it's used in poems

it's where the sentence is divided into two lines


for example


hello my
name is Winston


see how there's no comma after my, but rather it's suppose to flow on.

I have never heard of such a thing. So what is the point of it, like what effect does it have on the responder:confused:?

it makes the reader slow down and gives more emphasis to words- eg. "even if
nothing
is there"
gives the poems words more meaning compared to if it just said- "even if nothing is there".

It can be used to add to the feeling of continuity, such as in Chronic Ward (Skrzynecki) where they're stuck in a rut. Can't give u a quote now cos I can't remember!!!
