what in the world is newtons method?
what topic is this 'newton's method' under?
coz i can't find it anywhere in my textbook (i'm using maths in focus 2: Grove) and my teacher hasn't tought us yet.. :confused:

assuming it's still in the syllabus, how do i use this method?
can someone give me an example?

It, along with another method of approximation are in the syllabus and are used to estimate roots. Maybe its under a miscellenous section? Its under 16.4 in the syllabus under Iterative methods for numerical estimation of the roots of a
polynomial equation. It gives the example of Newton's method and the halving the interval method

I have problems remembering the formula, so everytime they asked me a newton method question, I just draw half of parabola and a tangent and get the formula there :p

try draw the sine/cos curve
then draw the tangent where it is max/min (ie the tangent parrallel to the x-axis)
