Hey y'all. South Australian year 11 student here. I've been stalking the threads here and finally decided to post. I hope you don't mind that I'm not doing the HSC - I just love what I've seen of this community here so far.

Anyway, these are my SACE subjects: Maths Studies (SA's advanced maths), English Studies (SA's advanced English), Biology, English and Chemistry.

It's great to see that you all are doing so well so far. It certainly has been a very exciting but tiring time for me entering year 11!

Yeah straight to series and sequence for my class. Not even revision lol
not as bad if you've learnt it before I guess

Series and sequences are really fun! Except for financial maths. That is the biggest b1tch alive haha

How are you all finding year 11 so far?
series and sequences are surprisingly easy in Margaret groves text books... Year 11 is pretty much what I expected, lots of homework, higher expectations and more demand. Just trying to finish work when given so I don't fall behind..

MX1, English advanced, Physics, Chemestry and a choice of bio/eco

Asian 5 is actually any English (whether esl, standardor advance - hence "Asian"), ext 1 maths, physics, chemistry and eco/bio (depending on which scales higher at the time of choice)

Haha I love how there's a 'choice'
So which one did you choose ?
economics, gives me a break from science.

i was thinking of doing 4u... well fuck... :/
same but I have kids doing 4u maths during year 11. like fk me, can I even catch up..

We have two stages (Stage 1 which is yr 11 and stage 2 which is yr 12). Stage 1 requires two semesters of English and 1 of maths. Stage 2 requires only a subject called Research Project where you pretty much research anything and is a huge joke. You then need to do so many other subjects (forgot how many).

Main differences between SACE & HSC is that yr12 English is not compulsory and the subjects are slightly different.

Thanks! Good luck to you as well.

Thanks :) English studies is the most advanced English subject here which focuses on analyzing texts. The standard English course has a lit more creative writing tasks and easier texts. I hate English personally, so I'll be glad after I finish it this yr (yr 12 English isn't compulsory here thank god).

I'm aiming to study a BSc. & Education and hopefully teach science.

If there's one thing I've learnt in year 11 so far is that you will get endless maths homework.

Because maths is endless
It's a doing (practice) subject I know, but the amount of textbook and booklet work you have to do during the week is ridiculous.

EDIT: I would rather read a book if I had the chance. (srs)

we're just finishing the basic arithmetic topic...yeah the first few exercises were so easy.....but half this stuff in the later chapters ive never seen in my life :'( i feel so stupid bc i cant do them..actually, idk if this is 2U or 3U bc my class is the same for 2U and 3U (same teacher and classmates) so we are just working out of the book the teacher gave us and its the first chapter. but this basic arithmetic is meant to be "revision"..im finding some stuff hard :( :( ..i dont think i should be doing 3U:( i died doing fractional indices and i dont even understand what the heck absolute value is bc ive never seen it before.. I JUST FEEL SO DUMB :'(
Exact same with my whole class.. I think we are just doing 2unit ATM... but really smart guys are freaking out.. they just think we r doing some excessively hard chapters from MX1..
