Hello All,
My son would be in year 11 next year. For year 11 advanced English is there something like prescribed texts similar to year 12? Also heard that each school will choose their own texts out of the NESA prescribed texts but don’t understand the logic of the HSC paper questions are set? Are there prescribed texts for each module? E.g Module A has 6 prescribed texts and the HSC paper will have a question for each of the 6 texts?? Similarly there will be prescribed texts for module B and C?

Hey! Unlike in Year 12, there are no NESA prescribed English texts in Year 11, all English texts will be prescribed purely at each school's discretion. In year 12, there is a range of texts which are prescribed for each English Module by NESA, however, the school is able to choose (from NESA's prescribed list) which texts to study for each module.

There are a range of different prescribed texts for each English Module (Common Module, Mod A, Mod B and Mod C). With such a large range of prescribed texts which schools may choose, HSC questions provide different questions for different texts - questions are suited to their respective texts.

E.g Module A has 6 prescribed texts and the HSC paper will have a question for each of the 6 texts??
Yes, the question that the student answers out of the 6 questions will depend on the text that they studied. They will only be answering one question from each module - the one which pertains to their prescribed text.
