I am in year 11 and I wanted to know if I can do year 11 and 12 at tafe with all my same subjects then do the hsc and get a UAI.

Also, could I just do year 12 at tafe and get a UAI?

Thanks

Yes. You can do both Year 11 and Year 12 in a year at TAFE. It's a very hard work though. You can choose to learn the course either within a year or in a period of two years.

My friend will leave school soon and go to TAFE to do his HSC subjects. He will start his HSC at TAFE. That is the option you can choose to take. But be ware: there are subjects that you cannot do at certain TAFE. Different TAFEs provide different subjects.

Thanks for the response, I have another question though.

When you said that certain tafe can't offer some subjects is it possible to do it at more than one tafes? Or are there any tafes around nsw that can offer all subjects?

You have to see if the timetable works out. But I am quite sure that most TAFEs will accommodate with most of your desired courses unless it is a board-endorsed courses. Go to few TAFEs close to your residence and check them out. I went to one at Hornsby last year and they kindly showed me all the courses they provide. From what I know, they provided all the courses I wanted to do. However, you will find it difficult to do subjects like Mathematics Extension 2 or English Extension 2. They are very rare. You will only find them at TAFE at North Sydney which is one of the biggest one in Sydney.

That's good news :)

My subjects are advanced english, advanced mathematics(2 unit), engineering studies, chemistry, physics and information processes technology.

Tafes would provide those right(no extension subjects)?

I know a few people who opted for the one year option at Tafe, and eventually ended up either completely dropping out, or returning to school. From what I hear, the pace is pretty fast, and some are simply unable to keep up with it.

Not too sure about two year option, however I know that both ultimately provide you with a UAI. It's best to consult the Tafe you're interested in attending and asking them what subjects they offer.
Yep. True, true. I cannot agree more.

Thanks a million guys :D , if I do this I think I'll do the one year option though since I already know most of the year 11 stuff.
