Simplify:

(x^(-1) + y^(-1))/(x+y)

P.S I'm not getting help with my hw, just wondering if you can do it.

I got 2/x.

i know i'm 99% wrong, because i have a feeling that the (x + y) in that question was there for a reason.

Anyone know how to solve this one? I've become heaps curious myself.

PS: I technically start my first maths lesson tomorrow...so yeah.

Simplify:

(x^(-1) + y^(-1))/(x+y)

(x^(-1) + y^(-1))/(x+y)

= [ (1/x + 1/y) / (x + y) ]

= [ (y+x)/xy ] / (x + y)

= [ (y+x)/xy ] . 1 / (x + y) (dot means multiply)

= 1/(xy)

yep got 1/xy too, fairly simple and very much like the questions in the cambridge book for chapters 1 and 2.
