You're completely right. they had so much they could've examined us on, and they chose to leave it all out and give us one crap exam..

At least it wouldnt have been possible to cheat on it :) theres no way anyone's notes couldve covered that
So what did everyone go with for project management strategies? Im an idiot and went with the Communication Skills dot point because its the only one i could think of that had 5 sub headings :S

All I wrote about was communication skills, because they'd need communication skills if they are going to work together as a team to be able to understand instructions. If they don't improve communication skills, thye wouldn't be able to understand instructions. (i just wrote the same thing twice)

It kinda applies to team building too. The other skills don't really apply.

I see it from the other side - how much stuff did they test thats only barely within the syllabus?!? I mean, I am completely stoked about that Search Engine question cause I've worked for an SEO (Search Engine Optimiser) specialist, but thats got very little to do with the course...

And the "Project Management Strategies" - what the heck did they want? I mean I wrote plenty and all but what did you all think of that?

Yes the search engine questions was a bit off track, I still knew some basics about it but, Project Management Strategies was part of the course but.

yeah very true, seems the kids in my class who never even turn up to class and I know for a fact didnt even study for this exam had a lot to write, Some of the questions were so basic its not fair I wanted a harder exam!
Don't worry- people do that in my school too but in the end, I studied my ass off and I've topped it every semester. Even if the test is easy, the markers can still discriminate between a good student and an excellent student.

Don't let other people finding it easy make you feel bad; this happened in Commerce too. I was the only one who found the test back in yr10 challenging but I still ranked 2nd overall in my school, and those people who bitched about it being easy ended up getting mediocre marks.

On the upside, if you got ranked well in your trials/school, and your school goes well in the HSC, then doesn't that push you up? Someone said to me if you get above 90% then you get scaled up, but if you get under you get scaled down...

man that exam was so fucked. there was no point in even studying, except for a little multiple choice and questions like "define a communication protocol"

the guy next to me that hasnt done shit all year who went out last nite and partied hard and rocked up to the exam with a hangover probably scored the same marks as me! and ive been up the past few nights studying my ass off!!!

http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/syllabus_hsc/pdf_doc/infoprotech_syl.pdf

if a student didnt know the above URL ... outline 3 disctict strategies that would help refine the search...

1) type in "the most fucked exam ever in history"
2) type in "who the fuck made the shittest exam ever"
3) type in "exams you can pass without studying for"

type any of these into a search engine and your bound to find the IPT on the board of studies website.

this exam just makes me not wanna study for any other exams... theres no point if theres only gonna be 20% of the course in the exam. i might as well study the book "how to bullshit and score 80%"

Youre an idiot mate!!! Of course you should study. Yes it was easy compared to what i thought, but honestly i think that they were aiming to test our skills at actually applying our knowldege to certain situations. Becuase its all well and good to read a book, but that doesnt exactly assist in putting that information into everyday life and situations.

yea, but they can test our ability to apply knowledge to a scenario by asking to draw a system flowchart based on a scenario, or the appropriate transmission medium for a certain company and the appropraite way to check for errors in data- what knowledge did we have to apply here? using a search engine? or how about picking out the images and text on a webpage?

yeah I must admit some questiosn were stupid I feel like shit studying for ages on all worthless shit when I could have spent that time doing some other shit. The exam still contained like 80% components of course work MC was pretty much all course work, most of the questions were aswell, they were just too basic I dont think its fair when theirs like no gap between the people who really did try and the people who just rocked up knowing nothing..

yea, true... I'm first in my class as well and i dont see any way that exam could differentiate between those that knew their stuff and studied, and those that didnt. there are whole pages in the syllabus in which nothing was examined.

If the exam didn't have alot of answers which require you to have a knowledge of the course, i dont think people should be happy...
cause the other type of questions are harder to get full marks in.

but i donno, i havn't seen the test.
I forgot most of ipt anyways.

gordo you are the "stupid fuck" mate it doesnt matter how hard it was its all relative. If its easy and we all went really well, then it will probably get scaled, plus ranks are more important as well, i dont feel the test allowed people who actually studied to demonstrate knowledge and hence gain higher rankings

If we all went really well, that doesn't mean the subject will get scaled higher than it usually is... it probably even means the aligned marks that we usually get will be less.

Yes I agree.. that test is a bit unfair for those who studied throughout the year. But it was great for people like me who studied the last 2 days before the exam:p

Whats there to complain about? You people are saying you studied everything but the exam was too easy, you are acting like you are at disadvantage or something. If you studied so bloody much, you should know how to do everything and thus be getting very high marks, I really don't understand why you are complaining

And now for something completely different...

Well i thought that exam was pretty tough! It was certainly harder than my trial and i got like 75% for that. Bugger.
I think what made it hard for me is
1. I studied for many things that weren't in there (stupid me, i studied for all the option topics instead of just the two that we did in class which were DSSs and Multimedia. Luckily someone told me that we only had to answer for two topics in section 3. But still, i studied for everything else with 3 different text books Heineman, Excel and Jacaranda and about half the M.C qu's and most questions in section 2 and 3 were focused on things that i never studied in depth)
2. I thought it was hard to make a point for each mark in section 2 and 3

Is there anyone else who found it hard?

Yeah some parts in it were deffiantly hard the MC questions were like as hard as the past few years the first 10 were pretty easy the next ten were hard....like 2002,2003 had really easy mc questions 2004 had hard...very true but I was stressing that stuff like binary would be in their :( and like out of the 28 pages on notes i did like not much was in the test....although my trial was deffiantly harder...we had similar questions to this test but....
