What does |z|^2 equal again?

I've just forgotten my complex numbers section...

I thought it was
|x+iy|^2
Which is x^2 - y^2?

|z| means the modulus, ie. the distance from the complex number to the origin

so letting z= x + iy
by pythagoras, |z| = rt (x2 + y2)

then |z|2 is just wot CrashOveride said
