Astra coupe looks nice.

To OP, go a used Peugeot 206 Gti. You'll get one for $10k with leather, climate control etc, gun 2L motor. Way better than a shit kia or hyundai. Or a corolla. I wouldnt go a jazz or yaris or anything, way too small.

a3's are ugly

i'd prefer an astra or even something like a civic

i really only want a cheap, reliable, reasonable looking car.
yeah true. if i was in a position to get an audi i would get no less than an A4. hopefully an A6 though =]

unfortunately i am not in that position.

can get p's from today =D

I think something like a 2002-2005 Toyota Corolla would be good. I currently drive an '02 hatchback.
My Corolla has done 65000 or so KM and it only requires regular oil changes. Pretty good car I'd have to say when I compare it back to the VN Commodore I was driving earlier this year. Safety wise, my Corolla has a drivers airbag, pretensioner seatbelts and a 4 star ANCAP safety rating.

How about a 95-98 Honda Civic? cheap, small & doesn't cost much to fill up either.

My paretns have got a hyundai getz and i reckon if you're thinking about getting one of those, DEFINITELY get the 1.6L instead of 1.4
it acutally makes a big differnece, espceially if you got mates in the back

I reckon a good small car is the Volvo C30 - might look a bit dated in 10 years but

I had a yaris bought it brand new
soooo many problems with it
so i got rid of it now i have 2 cars hyundai accent and hyundai i30
you could get a year old i30 for about 20,000
or new from about 24,000 upwards for a manual
I had the accent from before but i still like to drive it
i30 is a dream - european design excellent safety and is a great size its a bit bigget than a yaris
but seriously my friend drives a yaris still and she has it up 4 sale cause we have both had so many problems with them
good luck!

Notice most of the cars in the 2nd hand market are around 50,000km - 115,000km?

Major service time soon!

Minor servicing/simple oil changing a Corolla every 5000k is overkill anyway. Only worth doing if you don't do much mileage/yr and change fluids based on time.
