I dont think, that even if i give you historical evidence, of Jesus' existence, you would believe it.

Also, please explaint to me how Christianity, which is based on faith "fail?"

It is good to be cautious in this day and age.

And also, emotions does not carry you closer to God.
Well I'd believe any historical evidence you gave me for Jesus' existence, and 3unitz seems quite intelligent and logical, so I believe he would too. In fact, I'm personally convinced that Jesus did exist around the turn of the ancient and modern period.
But just 'cause he existed doesn't necessarily mean he was the Son of God, or even a prophet of Islam.

Are you suggesting that we are afraid of admitting our lack of knowledge?
I"m not a very religious person but I simply don't understand how some one can be so positive of the non-existence of something.
Perhaps "fear" wasn't quite the right word. But i find that theists are often quite unwilling to admit the limits to their knowledge of the world, and most simply revert to a slightly more artuiculate argument of "Goddidit" to fill the gaps of their knowledge about the universe and beyond.
We're not positive in the non-exitence of God. We acknowledge that he may well exist, but we believe this less likely than his non-existence.
Besides which, even if he did exist, I simply don't care. My life is perfectly happy without him.

EDIT: Also, I find this very hypocritical of you (assuming you believe in God), because how can you be so sure of God's existence?

Are you positive of the non-existence of the flying spaghetti monster.

If yes, why?

A lack of evidence, perchance?

LOL i had a very good reply to that but it's long and I'm sleepy.
Nevertheless, i am a reasonable person. CONVINCE me of god's non-existence and i shall convert. thought i highly doubt that a man of your stature and education can do so.

he won't be able to do so because IT IS A LOGICAL FALLACY TO PROVE A NEGATIVE.

Jesus fucking christ when will you dumbshits GET IT. YOU CAN'T PROVE A NEGATIVE.

YOU CAN'T PROVE THE UNICORN UNDER MY PANTS DOESN'T EXIST. YOU CAN ONLY ATTEMPT TO PROVE HE DOES.

Just out of interest, how would you suggest I go about proving the non-existence of something?

And why is the argument for the existence of God more convincing than the argument for the existence of the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

i've yet to actually obtain a solid answer for this as well.

theists always tend to ignore it or use the 'BUT GOD HAS BIBLE'

I try to take the believers(fucktards) in this thread seriously, but its really quite hard when your best argument for the existence of god is that we can't disprove something that isnt there. I still believe 90% of the 'christians' in here are trolls.

The alternative to God (ignoring other versions of the same entity) is either nihilism or humanism in my view. Nihilism is dangerous, however, as in many cases it can lead to depression, or is simply too hard to accept so the nihilist subconsciously reverts to being a theist. Humanism is a much better idea, but it takes a lot of effort to maintain faith in humanity when bombarded with news of war, murder and corruption.
Pessimistic humanism works well though.

hmm well said. i accept it was hypocritical of me.
what i am trying to do though, is not incite an argument but to try and understand atheism. so if any one has the decency to explain this to me without the obscene language please do soon!

(1) Do you agree with the utterly trivial proposition X?
(2) Atheist: of course.
(3) How about the slightly modified proposition X'?
(4) Atheist: Um, no, not really.
(5) Good. Since we agree, how about Y? Is that true?
(6) Atheist: No! And I didn't agree with X'!
(7) With the truths of these clearly established, surely you agree that Z is true as well?
(8) Atheist: No. So far I have only agreed with X! Where is this going, anyway?
(9) I'm glad we all agree.....

(37) So now we have used propositions X, X', Y, Y', Z, Z', P, P', Q and Q' to arrive at the obviously valid point R. Agreed?
(38) Atheist: Like I said, so far I've only agreed with X. Where is this going?
....
(81) So we now conclude from this that propositions L'', L''' and J'' are true. Agreed?
(82) I HAVEN'T AGREED WITH ANYTHING YOU'VE SAID SINCE X! WHERE IS THIS GOING?
....
(177) ...and it follows that proposition HRV, SHQ'' and BTU' are all obviously valid. Agreed?
(178) [Atheist either faints from overwork or leaves in disgust.]
(179) Therefore, God exists.
