after submitting your resume to an employer should you wait before you call him/her? I've applied for a tutoring position and I havnt heard from the company for about a week. Applications close on the 6th so maybe that is the right time to call. Thoughts?

U said applications close on the 6th right? That means that the company will most likely wait til they recieve all their applicants and then go through all the resumes and narrow the applicants down for interview. But after the 6th i would wait around a week before you call in. But hey thats just me, some others like to show initative and ring in like 2 days after the applications close. Good luck.

Being on topic,

I handed in a resume to Bakers Delight when they had a "hiring casual staff" ad up
(also my first job getting here)

I waited for 3 weeks and went back and asked one of the staff how's my resume going but she told me that the manager was on holidays and told her my name to chase it up after the manager returns

2~3 weeks later still no call but I checked my phone today with a missed call (most likely from a mobile judging from the number) but the person didnt pick up, seemed to be a male from the unavailable message (had the caller's voice for a sec to state his name)

That call could just be a wrong number though :\

I might go back again this weekend to ask, its been like 6 weeks, I think that hiring ad is still up. I must not be wanted or something :(

the 6th is tomorrow, Friday, so they probably won't start going through applications until some time next week. if you haven't heard anything in a fortnight, call them.

But i think you'll probably hear back from them before then, because tutoring places would be starting to get pretty busy for the year and they might need staff asap

good luck :)

But the sign of "casual staff wanted!" is up at the moment, so I assume they're hiring right now :(

meh, I'm going back there this weekend to ask again

Do they even really take 15 yo (near 16) first job getters? (have done some volunteer work here and there) :S My brother just told me maybe im not experienced or not good enough to why they haven't replied to my resume

Are they choosey or just hire anyone like maccas

lol they would love a 15-16 year old worker cuz alot of business are having to cut their staff cuz of the situation of the economy and 15-16 year old get paid squat. So in short; yes they would consider hiring u.

Bakers Delight aren't really all that choosey - a friend of mine started working there casually at 14.

Went back this saturday and monday, manager apparently was sick and just started reading resumes ._."

Called her today and told her about how I've been to the shop 4 times and she hasn't been there or replied since I told one of the staff. Apparently she never got my resume from the staff member I handed it in to D:< and she's had to take some time organising something about Uni students and their timetables for the job

Did a quick resume on the spot and she said she'd call when she's organised everything

I feel like my many-a-visits to BD were all wasted ._."
