What are the good/bad things about your school?

These are the good things which make me love my school:
  1. We literally have some of the best school counsellor,
  2. We also have the best Business Studies teachers (probably the best ones in the state), funniest teachers, and also the ones who can relate to students very very well.
  3. I have friends who are absolutely the best people that I was very fortunate to have met and become friends with.
  4. We have a great academic programme for Gifted and Talented (e.g. Mathematics acceleration Programme)
  5. Printing is free, xD
  6. We also have a great career counsellor <3 her for all these efforts that she has made for us =)
  7. One of the teacher there is just so great! She does all these extra works for students after school. omg, if I do become teacher...it's all because of her lol
  8. Funniest, relaxed school environment which helps me study better sometimes
  9. My school is full of motivation.
  10. My school opens doors for many opportunities post-graduation e.g. many ex-students come in and help fellow students and also get paid lol
  11. Its awesome name - St Pius X College. OMG, so cool =) jkkks
On the other hand:
  1. Really dodgy teachers are there too who have no idea what they are on about.
  2. School facilities are not very good
  3. School policies in regards to subjects are retarded
  4. While we have the best students, we also have the worst...litearlly the worst...who have commited crime and stuff =(

Don't you also have Bob Emery as a principal who is awesome at phys?
Unless you don't see that as a positive thing haha :p

Good:
1. Some of the nicest students around, very willing to offer help and assist each other if they are struggling
2. Being co-ed like everyone mixes with everyone and no-one really is sidelined. In some way or another everyone belongs haha
3. Girra has like so many things going on a regular basis so theres hardly a boring day out there! Not to mention a bbq every week for 3 weeks atm haha. Also like theres all these days like "multicultural day" and other days with an emphasis on something else.
4. Its very laid back for a selective school
5. Awesome jersey though it took 3 terms to finally get it!
6. Our careers advisor, whilst people say she doesn't do enough, I reckon is pretty awesome organising so many things for us including several guest speakers from the universities and other talks. Also not to mention having to be constantly hassled by several students for their predicted ATARs and scholarships and what not.
7. Whilst many people are wary of the executives catching us out on our untidy presentation, I reckon its pretty laid back this way as well. Blazers aren't compulsory :D

Bad:
1. Sorta poor facilities in that the school hasn't changed much since 30 years ago. We have timed lights, hanging lights, chalkboards! though the majority have whiteboards, limited AC. Then again, we do have quite a free projectors and some interactive whiteboard I have no idea about haha
2. In yr 12, you don't do sport and some are fortunate enough to do so in yr 11.

Good:
Small (about 230 enrolled at the start of the year)
Not in a city (town population about 1000)
Small classes (my biggest one has 15 ppl in it)
Friendly atmosphere
Heaps more, too much to mention here...

Bad:
Some idiots (don't all skools?)
Dodgy teachers (that more often than not I teach rather than vice-versa)

Not much else though.

Good:
  1. We have such a gifted cohort - so many smart ducklings :D
  2. Our teachers are so supportive - you can go up and ask any of them for help on pretty much everything
  3. Every teacher is willing to stay back after school and help - after school catch up classes are always an option
  4. We have some of the best teachers! - They know they're stuff and can actually teach ^^
  5. There is basically no sport after yr 11 unless you pick PDHPE etc etc
  6. The facilities are pretty darn awesome
  7. Year 12 is always placed as a 1st priority
  8. Our school knows how to celebrate, and when there's a celebration everyone celebrates
  9. When there's a problem ever student will help
  10. We have nice food outlets nearby for after school munchies
  11. Our uniform is pretty nice, not fugly at all
Bad:
  1. We have some dodgy teachers, albeit a very small minority
  2. Some students are just hopeless.... I wish they'd just quit already!

1. 1st in the state
2. No dumbasses/dropkicks
3. No fights
4. Most teachers are good
5. No fees.
6. Good facilities for a public school.
7. Dedicated morning fitness program for fatass nerds.

Disadvantages

1. Few babes
2. Asians everywhere that sometimes talk in Chinese/Korean when they dont want you to understand
3. People look down on you if they're smarter.
4. Stupid amount of politics
5. Very few relationships
6. Some shitty teachers.

So overall it's alright.

What I love about Baulko:
1. We're the most ownage school in the state (I don't care what ruse people say. :p) Not to mention the awesome anti-ruse jokes.
2. We have the most awesome gym EVER.
3. Awesome connections with other selective schools.
4. How we pretty much own ruse in sport. no matter what. =)
5. How we can complain until teachers get fired and then we get much better ones. xD
6. There's stuff like BAULKO TRIVIA NIGHT which is held just for the sake of it. They didn't even make any profit from it ... they used all the money (and more) on prizes and feeding us.
7. We've got the best volleyball team in the country.
8. Lots of extra-curricular stuff to choose from. And some dodgy ones for the lazy people.
9. Self-serve canteen ftw.
10. Teachers are pretty nice. =)
11. People hand in the lost wallets they find with all the money still inside.

What's not so great:
1. How we always say we'll beat ruse in academics... but we never do.
2. Our compost bin was so shmexy that it got stolen. (but dw, we bought a new one)
3. There's no train station in the vincinity of the school so about 1000 pack into the bus bay every afternoon.
4. The school is like heaaaps old + some new add-ons which makes it look dodgy. I say, knock down and rebuild. =D
5. How we can't sing. :( (not as good as ruse anyway) and how our bunsens aren't (as) shiny (as ruse bunsens)
6. The ladies in the office rage too much.
7. We always seem to be running out of toilet paper....

That is what you get from going to James Ruse/Sydney Boys High School/equivalent selective school.

Don't you also have Bob Emery as a principal who is awesome at phys?
Unless you don't see that as a positive thing haha :p

Time and time it amuses me when people attend a selective school and there are poor facilities and resources.
Absolutely appalling.
Selective school students deserve it.
This is why a former Girraween student moved to my school which isn't selective and was a better choice.

Not much else though.
My school is exactly like this.
However I didn't see your 'bad' points as a liability in my academic performance.
It shouldn't be for any school.

I doubt you get the morning fitness program at any school other than James Ruse. Also another reason why Ruse>Baulko, we can discuss our greatness without mentioning Baulko (at least I did). Also, we beat you in Oztag this year, so we don't always lose to you.

what the hell is that morning fitness program anyway ...

does it matter? My knockout soccer team raped yours 8-1 and we didn't have training OR tryouts and we were mucking around with goalie runs. and our volleyball team rapes yours.

maybe I'm just high and keep mentioning ruse coz of trying to trick the other tables into writing ruse for the "which school won the principals shield in 2006?" or something like that and screaming out "IT WAS RUSE. THEY WIN EVERYTHING".

and and. you guys have too many stairs. like seriously. What would lazy people like me do. D=

Once again, why go to a private school?
Waste of money.

The fitness program is the unfortunate result of the students' lack of management with their weight.
This is a typical James Ruse student isn't it?
Oztag is irrelevant to the HSC and is even more irrelevant because I finished the HSC a few years ago.

What I like (the pros):

1. A very good Mathematics department (although no-one manages to take advantage of it from my school!)
2. Fairly decent science/chemistry resources.
3. Awesome study room! People are super quiet and the supervisors are very considerate and caring... :)
4. Funny as hell Librarian/Careers Advisor! w00t! careers ftw.
5. A very close cohort (my Year 11 group). We are all, and I mean all very good friends and have the best times in and out of school.
6. There has not been a fight at my school in about 3 years! ^_^... thank god for well behaved kids!
7. Good and fair policies on what is allowed/not allowed at school (e.g. Mobile/iPod use)
8. Very funny and caring teachers. Although there are some bitch of teachers the majority really care and class time is something we can look forward to!
9. A really relaxed environment

What I don't like (cons):

1. Despite the school kids generally being well behaved and a good enviorment there are some complete arseholes and arrogant pricks (I mean, they are the most stubborn and unwilling people to meet)
2. Although the sciences resources are good, I want them to be better... well updating (they're getting on in their time)
3. Small library resources + printing costs a fair bit if you have a fair bit to do (but I can con them to do it for free ^_^)

Maybe it's just the girls sports. Our girls aren't all very sporty. Also we dont have too many stairs, your school is too dark and filled with corridors and shit. Our school is wide open instead of one huge long building. Also morning fitness program, if you fail 1.6 (do it in over 10 minutes), you have 2 mornings a week of fitness. I went there, and that shit did a world of good for me. Mind you I have actually gotten heavier since attending it (35kg in year 7 to 44kg now), but I put that down to growing 35 cm.

Yeah I wasn't referring to you. I was referring to aya-chan and her statement that Baulko always beats Ruse in sport.

Well, okay then. Probably just the girls. =)

we don't have one huge long building? ^^" Sort of ... if you like, count the blocks as different buildings and ignore the connecting corridors and stuffs. heh.

It looks like one huge building to me. It just goes around and around. At least our connecting corridors mark each building as a separate block. Also there are lifts so the school is wheelchair friendly.
