The only reason Homophobia exists in society is because Christinality see's it as wrong.

Homesexuality is Natural, and in most cases where i have met homosexual people, would be considered far more superior at raising children then a few select heterosexual socio-economic classes.

No not just Christianity, almost all major world religions. That wasn't my point, it's inevitable that there would be serious bullying problems.

Yeah, well,

youre all too stupid and gutless to stand for anything anyway. Accept everything, you say, there's no such thing as good and evil, civilization and barbarism, correct and incorrect; it's all a big haze that we should allow ourselves the freedom to drift in, dude. This will fix everything! You wanna kill me? Go ahead, that's your right, bro

It's just an insult to the medical profession, who are there to help people in genuine need, rather than frivilous want.

If they were so desperate to have a child, as you say, they would renounce their burning lusts for one another and make an honest woman out of some poor lonely girl. They shouldnt expect doctors, who have a serious and even sacred role in society, to pick up the edit:ethical tab for their selfish fancies
*cough*

Yes.

Your sub-culture is necessarily materialistic, because yours is a union closed to natural life. All you can hope for is a 'mail-order baby', which, far from bringing two highly corrupted souls closer together, would merely expose the cracks more quickly and ruin the life of the child. So go and tart up your aging flesh and try to attract as many partners as you can; the time will come when you realise the futility of your quest for meaning through sex.
Then you will destroy yourself.
Corrupted? By love?
What about the point that homophobia exists strongly in the community, and has been that way for a very long time. It ain't going to be great for the kid at school, inevitably they will cop a lot of crap for it.
Don't be a fool. In the confines of school, kids are monsters who prey on anything they can. You will be bullied for being fat, skinny, smart, dumb, tall, short, for having bad teeth, for being poor, for being rich, for being pale, for being dark, for having birth marks, for liking girls, for being un/circumcised, for being flat chested, for having huge knockers and a million other things. It's just inevitable in an environment like that. Children of queers will receive much less heat than someone who is queer themselves.

Iron, how sadly misinformed and ignorant you are.
The assertion that homosexual couples want children solely as 'accessories' and 'pets' is not only grossly discriminatory, but mind-boggling.
To top it all off you have absolutely no evidence to substantiate your claims.

Just out of curiousity Kami, would you insist that the homosexual parents of an IVF child remain faithful to eachother?
I assume that youre a feminist who favours custody of normal divorce kids being awarded to the mother - how should a judge determine who a child goes with upon the breakup of a parenting homosexual relationship?

Honest qs.

This guy sounds like a douche, especially after retracting his statement.
I believe that homosexual couples should have access to IVF.

And the big factor that i think you are missing is that children pay very close attention in how their parents act, and other adults they respect, and mimic their reactions, because that is what they learn. This they then take to school. So if a kid at home is taught that others with same sex parents are strange, then they will adopt that view.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is going to be a never ending cycle if we just say "awww, kids who have same-sex parents are going to have a hard time at school because they are going to get bullied." It's a never ending cycle until we all do something about it instead of taking a back seat and pleading ignorance. Its alright for people who it doesnt affect, but for those who it does we want change!!!!!

Just because it is doesnt mean it should be

thats like saying racism or sexism are wrong and they are both perfectly acceptable imo
They arent hating, they are just using the argument that it goes against the natural order of things.

Actually, as a feminist I would insist that we don't favour either gender; a woman's role in their child's life is not defined or constrained by her womb. As someone who is also a proponent of protecting the best interests of a child, I would insist that a parent be favoured for custody on the basis of them best serving the interests of the child through both a healthy relationship with a child, skills in communication and education and their own security on the socio-economic ladder. Due to pre-defined gender roles, women are often cast in the role of the primary caregiver at home so they, for the most part, have more of the first two but this is not because of an innate property of their gender.

I see no difference in the deciding factors with LGBT couples. The gray areas that do exist are rooted in the issues of biology. Biology is an issue because with the current legislation only one member of the same sex couple can be listed as a parent, to my knowledge, so the biological parent almost automatically secures a win in a custody battle ... which is problematic.

I think couples should have the right to do as they elect to do with their sex lives - too often we (LGBTs) are subject to the monogamy question when it's ignored that an increasing amount of different sex couples are participating in polyamorous arrangements. I think the better question to ask here is if you think -any- couple should be monogamous in support of raising a family.

On that question, I personally think that a stable unit is better for child rearing and for some people that involves one person or it involves three (which are each involved with the other two) etc. Co-parenting, both for couples who are (preferably amicably) divorced and with their own partners (step parents and step-siblings) or in an arrangement between a male same sex couple and a female same sex couple, is an example of a stable parenting environment which has more than two parental figures. Theoretically, a three way poly couple could do the same though I've never seen it but I doubt someone who was polyamorous in the most explicit way would have an easy time of child rearing if only because there can only be one unit which surrounds the child and if each partner had say, three additional long term partners who weren't anything to do with that then I think there would be issues.

I'm not missing it at all - I'm saying it's irrelevant. If you aren't charismatic or whatever then you will get bullied, it doesn't matter either way, they will find something to bully you on and if you're the type not to get bullied (in primary at least) then you won't be regardless of parents. Seriously, a 9 year old won't understand enough to give a fuck about it except as a tool to make anyone feel bad. We all know this - we were either the kids that did it or the kids who were the subject of it.

Seriously problems can arise, I'm not disregarding homophobia and all that, I've seen its horrendous effects on some people's lives but as far as kids at school go but your children will never be safe from being called names and having someone socially exclude them. If you're a good parent then you can raise them to have enough confidence and self-esteem for it not to do any significant harm but you can't insulate them from it no matter who you are.

I know that, personally, I did some obviously not hetero things in primary school, like making out with another boy in the middle of class etc. and no one batted an eye. Not because the Shire was such a gay friendly place (it isn't) but because it didn't matter to kids. The fact that they could rhyme my name with 'devon' seemed to be of more relevance until I was like 13, no matter how or what I behaved like. Real homophobia doesn't really come out (no pun intended) until puberty and afterward and hetero kids (because that's who we're really talking about in this instance) of LGBTI parents won't suffer the brunt of this new found aggression, especially since the parents aren't as visible a presence in the child's school life by that point.
