Does anyone know how it works out if one wishes to drop ones HSC. Say if someone is unwell this year and at this juncture decides to drop it, then complete it next year.
Anyone who has done it before to pls enlighten.

The person who wishes to drop is at quite a good school, one of the best and thus the disadvantage would be that if after dropping hsc she is not allowed to continue in the same school, then a lower ranking school next year would mean lower scaling. But otherwise the gain would be better in overall marks.

Any suggestions...as I couldn't guide her much abt it.

school has nothing to do with it, you can go to james ruse or punchbowl boys and still get 99.95

alternatively, do the HSC and if you can prove your that sick "apply for misadventure" they take sickness into account, ask careers advisor about it

+1.

Subjects scale; schools don't.

Good suggestions. Will pass them on to her. She says her school cares only for the toppers, as she once was at the top as well but only this year her results came down, and now her school doesn't even remember she was very bright all those years. It kind of hurts her so she wants to leave the school and go for a new one where no one knows her. Of course she shd stick to it and soon will go to uni and forget everything.

It doesn't matter what other people think of her, it's how she performs when the exams come around. If she can knuckle down and get some serious study in, she'll do fine. She's working for herself, not for the appreciation of anyone else. :)

Anyway, if she's doing her HSC this year... it's just around the corner, no point in dropping out now.

Exactly, dropping now would just be a waste of time.
