what's allotrope and isotope? can someone gimme a good explaination
good answer =]].Allotrope: A form of the one element which has different physical properties due to a difference in the molecular structure. E.g. of allotopres include white, red and black phosphorus.
Isotope: A form of an element which has a greater atomic mass due to the greater number of neutrons present in the nucleus. Isotopes become more unstable as the number of neutrons increase in the nucleus. E.g. of isotopes include, carbon-12 and carbon-14, where the number in the name denotes the mass of the atom.
An allotrope is something that is made of the same element, but comes out as a different form. Eg diamonds and graphite, they're both made of carbon, but diamonds are hard and shiny, whereas graphite (it's the stuff in lead pencils) is soft and grey-ish coloured. So, you can say that diamonds and graphite are allotropes of carbon.what's allotrope and isotope? can someone gimme a good explaination
