does anybody else here have ext 1 maths 2moro? because i do...

im not gona study much though. theres only three people in my grade doing it, and im already coming third, and the other 2 are coming first by miles. so fail or pass, im still going to come third anyway. so im not gonna bother..

ill just study it up when the hsc comes round :)

It's not just the ranks that count, but the gaps in between them. You should work to minimise the gap :)

She's exactly right The trials are the ones that make or break ranks in maths, as I learnt last year. Try your hardest.

One exam left. Friday - Ancient History~

(But fuck. I have my French HSC speaking exam all the freaking way at James Cook HS on saturday. I've neglected to study/practice for that because of trials.)

I reckon gap > rank. When schools sends in the students' results, they send their marks to BOS not their ranks.

oh rly o_o
Yeah. You will find out what marks they sent in after they do - BOS tells you on Students Online.

School assessments are more than rankings; the BOS does not simply map HSC marks to ranks. It's about statistics, averages and standard deviations. Often, it means that the HSC marks and ranks map, but sometimes they don't. That's why the gaps between students really count.

hmm if i decide to do the 2unit exam instead of 4u, rankwise and gaps, ill be 1st by 25% of the course as we have now finished. what do u think will happen here, do they try to keep the gaps the same for the internal marks?

Exactly.

For example, you'd be better off be ranked 5th and only be 3 marks away from the person who's first than ranked 2 and be 10 marks away from first.

does the gap difference matter if ur first?
i'm first in 1 subject and wasn't sure if i should have studied much for it or focused a lot more on my weaker subjects, bit late now anyway
