There's no point in throwing our hormones around the place now.

There isn't much point in arguing whether some form of sexual conduct is wrong/immoral as it will change from person to person and their contexts - how they were brought up - religious or not. There are so many factors which influence our thoughts and opinions.
Just like there is no point debating whether forced marriage/theft/murder/rape is immoral because different people will think differently?

That's against law though in Australia.

Gay is not. Gay marriage and adoption has issues....

There is just the ever slightest difference between the issue and severity.

I don't know that the severity of the moral issue is relevant. My point was that the fact that other people can/do think differently about a particular issue shouldn't stop us from discussing the issue. I would suggest that where differences in moral outlook exist, debate becomes more important.

Aquawhite got owned >_> (since I believe discussion is important for moral complexity).

When I said it's not much point arguing about it, I was focusing on the little bitch that people were having about 'homophobia'.

Is that annoying or do you get used to it?
What, the introductions or the questions?

The questions, yes, annoy me.

The introductions, no, they dont. I prefer people to know in advance, then to have people spewing garbage about gay people not knowing there is one present.

also, as to williamc, i dont think he is being homophobic per se, i think he's being more heterosexist

from wikipedia

Heterosexism is a term that applies to negative attitudes, bias, and discrimination in favor of opposite-sex sexuality and relationships. It can include the presumption that everyone is heterosexual or that opposite-sex attractions and relationships are the norm and therefore superior.

I didn't know such a thing existed. But it seems you've hit the nail on the head so to speak.

I think a lot of people are less homophobic so much as they are "sissyphobic". Or in other words, they don't have anything particularly against two people of the same sex sleeping with one another, but they do have a problem with exaggerated campness in men.
i think this is probably the most accurate statement here. It comes down to more than just an issue of gay vs straight. Instead, the idea is more firmly planted in the broader stereotype of masculinity that suggests men are supposed to be strong/silent/devoid of emotion in public. I'd probably agree that most straight men would find it easier to be friends with a gay guy if he was less camp.

My group of friends is predominantly gay/bisexual. Nothing is different except I can say certain things in front of my gay guy friends that I'd be too embarrassed to say in front of the straight guys.

To get the thread back on topic:

To those who have friends of sexuality other than heterosexual, have they ever approached you about sexual things with you. E.g. Asked you out or has anything happened between yourself and another 'gay' friend?
