Wheew. Managed to semi-fix my laptop (hopefully). Restored it to an earlier point, and installed everything possible to get rid of the ten or so Trojans (!!!) that were there. SpyBot Seach & Destroy, SpyBot Blaster, updated Java, Avira, , Comodo Firewall. Never ever using McAfee again. Piece of shit. Anything else you guys reckon I should install?

I don't use any anti-virus software.

They are redunant if you possess common sense.

Get rid of all of that crap and use Kaspersky or Nod32.

I do use common sense, and don't go onto dodgy websites and never open junk emails (well, I hope that's fairly common sense anyway). But ending up with as many Trojans as I did was just !!! Taking no chances now.

It needs to be free--permanently.

Use firefox with adblock, no script, flashblock. I don't use it but web of trust is good.

Don't download any unknown exes.

You only need adaware or something.

YOu also don't need a firewall. Your router + any windows version from XP has an inbuilt one that works fine.

NOD32 i.e. ESET is what i'm using at the moment. Can return a few false positives, but doesn't hog many resources at all; very fast to run (being written mostly in assembly and all).
