I recently got prescribed 2mg of Ducene (diazepam) to ease my anxiety. I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder a few weeks ago and over the holidays, amongst the myriad of things that I get anxious over, I couldn't bring myself to study. Either i got hives, stomach cramps and what not - the usual.

anyways so the doctor finally prescribed me the Ducene about a week ago. the day after I got prescribed the meds, I took a tablet before I began my studying. Instead, I woke up on my couch 4 hours later feeling drowsy and completely out of it.
The next day, I took it before work and the whole time felt like I was about to sleep.
So now i'm worried, because I don't have the time and funds to go back to the doctor and I doubt he will prescribe me any other medication because he was REALLY against giving me the ducene. I started studying this morning and I still can't concentrate properly and i'm already feeling sick to the stomach.

what do i do!? does anyone else take Ducene? I'm in a constantly shitty mood and i'm forgetting everything. Like I've forgotten peoples names in my grade that I've known since i was 11, table numbers at work (which to me is like 1+1=2) and am forgetting important but little things if you get me. But it has helped me calm down and help me sleep. the doctor suggested I take one before an exam and i've discovered that it does lessen my nerves if they are HIGH and helps me sleep if i'm already tired.

tl;dr taking medication to help me concentrate in exams instead making me drowsy at times do I keep taking it cause my body might get used to it?

The reality is diazepam is occasionally used (at higher doses) to knock people out for surgery, it has very wide spread effects on the brain, thus the only thing I'd suggest is to reduce the dose to a point where you can deal with the anxiety but aren't sedated and drowsy.

Your body should get used to it. When i first went on meds, i found myself sleep well and generally a better mood.

Maybe you should see a psychiatrist, they specialise in this area. I was forced to see one.
