That figure is quite blatantly false. There are only about 300 million people in the US. You are honestly saying that 6 million of them leave Islam each year? I doubt there are even 30 million Muslims in the country. A 20% reconversion rate would be impossible.
Unless of course there are close to or more people than that converting to Islam each year. Then it could make sense.

And Islam is most probably the fastest growing religion in the world. Exact number of adherents are never known for any religion (current estimates on Islam have a range of about a billion), but overall population growth by region is known with reasonable accuracy, and the predominant religion in most of the world's fastest growing region is Islam. It's also a reasonable assumption that the majority of children will inherit their parent's religion.

Yeah, number of religious adherents is always impossible to quantify, so there will of course be accounts that differ wildly. This is due to various levels of adherence means many people who are counted shouldn't be and many people who aren't counted should be, but also because, as you say, many people will not admit to their true feelings and beliefs, even occassionally to themselves. Fear of persecution and/or ridicule also warps statistics, which could be why numbers of atheists is growing so fast, as more come out of the closet due to less persecution, rather than freshly converting. Could also explain higher Islamic and Christian adherence rates, as many people will not admit different opinions to their parents and loved ones.

I find it somewhat humourous that despite the self-assurances of Islamic people that their religion and culture is superior etc, Western culture continues to seep into their way of life and their cultural landscape.
