Because sarcastic response indicates sincerity, right?
no because before being completely convinced, i have tried it and i have sincerely wished for it.

sure i felt like a douchebag seeking and talking to myself, but it was sincere.

yet i did not get a response, no nothing.

so are YOU going to tell me why? or just dismiss my previous attempt?

Though quite comical, it is true.

@ obs3n3: are you sure that it's god's voice you hear, and not your own?

You lack faith in God. Without the faith in Him, your assertions of love are meaningless and as such your prayers are also.

Instead of praying for your own good, pray out of your love for God. Instead of asking "Lord please bless me and grant me the knowledge of this work so that I may ace the HSC etc." Say, "Dear Lord, please grant me the strength and perseverance so that I may bring myself to study and achieve in my exams so I" ...and then the reason.

If the reason is something as stupid as so you can get a great job and earn heaps of cash, then you havn't given God a really good reason for Him to answer your prayers.

Make the aims of everything you do in this life to glorify God. Your prayers should reflect this goal. He will not abandon you if you have faith in Him.

Sometimes God doesn't answer your prays immediately, and although bad things happen in your life, this doesn't mean God has ignored you. Read the Book of Job in the Bible and you will understand where I am comming from.

I just think that instead of saying that god loves us, which is theology, you should tell us why the existence of god is true?

I have already explained it is impossible to prove beyond reasonable certinty, the exitence of God, or prove that He doesn't exist.

This, I also explained is to be expected, as He made mankind in His own image to have a loving relationship with etc.

If were able to, through something as crude as science, prove Gods existence, that would defeat the purpose. He wants us to love Him back and have our faith in Him, drive our actions in this life. He gave us the option of not accepting Him or His laws. Faith, and obeying God has alwyas been mankinds choice, and will always remain so.

If I proved God through maths, neither love or faith would drive our worship, but knowledge, knowledge that He exists etc. God has always wanted those with the faith to choose Him over themselves, not make everyone feel that they have to worship Him, if they choose not to.

Exodus 20:3-5

3 Do not have any other gods before me.

4 You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me,

But that's just theology. Your blasphemy against our flying spagetti monster is the same as our blasphemy against your higher being.

And I am to understand that you take this worship of said "Flying Spagetti Monster" seriously?

Quench my curiosity, what exaclty is it that the worshipers of this idol believe in?

faith is something earned. not handed out willingly. and i swear if you think that god has actually answered you, you're guilty of self delusion.

Its just a thing to illustrate our point that this call to faith to your god is abitrary and gives us no reason to follow it anymore than any other made up being or any other religion.

Faith is a gift.

And how would you know, what I pray for, and let alone which of my prayers are answered?

You merely make the assumption that simply because you cannot find faith in yourself, that He doesn't exist, and does not answer the prayers of His followers.

This is in turn justificiation for your own sinful lifestyle. You reject God because faith in Him would require control of your temptations and sacrifices which you are not willing to make in your self-centred and hedonistic existence.

My love for God is not based on my wishes or what I want. It is based on His rules and my (sometimes) blind faith in Him. By rejecting Him, you choose only to serve yourself.

As stated in many posts, believing in God is a win win situation. If you die and he does exist, whoopi-di-do. If he doesn't, meh!

What prevents me from following Christianity is the "requirement" to believe in EVERYTHING. i.e. to me, believing in God involves believing in all his teachings, of which many I object to.

One of which, the strong objection to homosexuality. While I'm straight, one of my best mate withdrew from the world in year 12, sinking into depression. Why? Closeted homo.
Poor guy, I hope he's "recovered" from his depression. There's a guy like that in my grade, it's probably quite common sadly.

Why?...Why would someone be closeted? It is because of widespread religion. Society accepts homosexuality, the law accepts it. Yet, religion just can't seem to adjust, because they cannot admit something in the bible is wrong.

Just because something in the bible is wrong does not mean that God is wrong. It only means the interpreter, the writer, of that chapter of the Bible is wrong.
Just because society accepts it does not mean its right, or healthy. It just means people believe it is, and its popular.

The Bible is not a perfect work, as it was completed by humans, who as we all know are flawed, imperfect beings. Each book of the Bible was written by a different person (some people wrote more than one, but, overall it is a collaborative work).

Every passage relating to homosexuality renounces it as a perversion of Gods gift of sex and love. Granted, it they all said it was ok, but one passage which condemned it, there would be room for dispute, but it is universally condemned. Not only in Christianity, but all other major religions as well.

And I find it quite rich for you to assume that all homophobia and descrimination against gay people in society is the result of religion. The majority of people in Western society are not religious, but this still doesn't stop children calling each other "faggots" or describing things as "gay" if they are annoyed.

Religion is not to blame for this. Christianity preeches love, not hate.

No one should be ashamed of themselves. I'm ashamed that many religion can't accept certain individuals.
Just because now, an increasinly liberal society permits more personal freedom that ever before, does not make such acts good.

The Bible is the word of God to those with faith, and is under no obligation whatsoever to change, simply because more people in modern society accept homosexuality as a healthy alternative lifestyle.
