How do the lecturers take students using laptops?
I've used one most of the time during HSC (not to play games lol)

Gotten kinda used to it, so I might be using it during Uni as well since I like to keep my notes digitized.

I do bus (third/last year :D) and i've never seen a lecturer/tutor "confiscate" a student's laptop. I bring my macbook into lectures/tutes every time and this has never happened to me or anyone else.

I've seen a handful of laptops (at least) in each lecture I've been in, and at least 1 in each tutorial. The lecturers have no problem with them being there as long as you're doing work.

Also, a lecturer cannot take a laptop for 2 weeks (or two hours or two minutes). They have no authority over a student's possessions. While at high school such authority was granted by a parent, in university it is akin to theft (albeit temporarily). They have the authority to kick you out of class, or to have security escort you if you're being stubborn, but touching you or taking your things is not allowed.

They can't do that.

You must of been on drugs and was hallucinating.
Yeah considering that "Dog On Heat" apparently finished his HSC last year, I would take onboard what he says with a grain of salt

Could anyone recommend a place where I could a buy a decent bag for my laptop? Maybe between $50-100? I just received a mac as a gift and planning to bring it to uni on occasions, and I got no idea where to begin to find a good bag :) Please help.

Seriously just google "quality laptop bag". You'll find some reviews on some and then once you find the product you want you can try a few different computer stores (So you're not completely ripped off by DSE, Harvey norman etc).

On a general note, a good bag is generally made out of the wetsuit material, or something even squishier that wont rip and gives it better bounce protection. You want a zipper as well. Technically it looks like a big pencil case. Velcro is a bad idea as your laptop will fall out and you'll hate yourself.

You could also buy a laptop/book bag combo, with a section built in for a laptop. That's what I have--- even though I no longer bring my laptop to uni.

If you want a good quality bag for your Mac, go to the Apple Store in the city or Chatswood or an Apple-authorised retail stores (like Next Byte) although you'll find that it's pretty expensive. I got a good backpack/laptop bag combo from Next Byte on Victoria Avenue in Chatswood (I think they changed their name) two years ago for $110. Although it was really expensive for a backpack, it was totally worth it :)
