Hey, I'm having trouble with questions similar to these. Could anyone provide the working out these two :S?

Lol it's x^2

Feel slack for you. Wasted so much time.
Zomg -_- I wrote it down on my piece of paper as x^2 to start with, and then did not notice it again. Epic fail *sigh*

Let me try again.

For 2.

Rationalise LHS

a = 13/23 b = -14/23

Oh fuck -9-8=-17
(-17/-23) = 17/23, a = 17/23

You should really reconsider doing 2 unit dude...
I topped maths in our year last year and the year before, I'm fine. I've just never had to do the question before and didn't realise how easy it was, is all. When I tried to do a, for example, I wrote it as a fraction, rather than "1 divided by...". Writing it the other way, I understand it and now have that experience to refer back to. And I'm not sure why I asked for b, they were just in the same section lol.

Besides, I'm doing 3 unit and am currently coming first, still.

No worries. Also, if you ever have a fraction like:

And you have a fraction to put in for x, always divide, and then if it's simpler to put it back into one fraction have it as a fraction. A lot easier on the eyes, and a lot easier to work out :)
