prelim subjects are prerequisite for HSC subjects.

therefore to be eligible for HSC extension english 1 you would have needed to do prelim extension and fulfill requirements for that course first.

most schools would not let you take up prelim extension this far in the prelim course, so im afraid you wouldn't be technically allowed.

sorry, its NSWBOS rules that go for basically all subjects.

if you do adv eng in year 11, you can pick up ext 1 next year.

another example is the maths extension 1 you have this year. it means you can pick up mx2 next year if u wish.

As the Ext 1 English course has a Preliminary year you need to satisfy your principal that you have meet some or the outcomes of the Preliminary course in order to do Extension 1 in Year 12 and most principals won't sign off on that. Mine won't do so for Extension 1 English or Maths but might in other courses.

Doing Advanced English in Year 11 isn't the same as doing Extension 1 Maths. Doing Extension 1 English is needed to pick up Extension 2 English in Year 12 (just like Maths).
