Just heard about this. The news outlets were saying today that he probably wouldn't be stepping down until September.

He's resigned, so yeah i guess.

Unless the transition isn't orderly and a the muslim brotherhood fills the void and act on their anti-israel rhetoric and go tearing up the peace treaty and start smuggling arms into Gaza... Then it won't be boring.

The chances of that happening are 0.

Re: What do you think of the current revolution in Egypt?

tbh i don't live in egypt so i can't really make a sound judgement on whether a revolution is good or bad. but the WAY in which they carried out the revolution so efficiently and with (mostly) peaceful protests is fantastic and sets a good precedent that peaceful revolutions are possible

Whole Western world (including Israel) is watching Egypt.

Doubt they'd let another islamic theocracy emerge.
'they' being the military i assume

i'd say the military would prefer to retain power if their only other option involved ceding it to a group like the mb

Reporting from New York — — CBS News correspondent Lara Logan is recovering in an American hospital this week after being sexually assaulted and beaten by a mob in Egypt's Tahrir Square late on Friday.

The same day that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down, Logan was surveying the mood of anti-Mubarak protesters for a "60 Minutes" story when she and her team "were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration," CBS said in a statement Tuesday. The network said that a group of 200 people were then "whipped into a frenzy," pulling Logan away from her crew and attacking her until a group of women and Egyptian soldiers intervened.

Logan flew back to the United States the next morning.
Right after "But she wasn't in her room wearing a burqa!," add "But it was an exciting celebration!" to the list of justifications for Muslim gang rape.

What the fuck is 'Muslim' gang rape even? It was by an opportunistic mob. It has nothing to do with the revolution or the people.

But their geographical neighbours are probably all for it (eg. the islamic republic of Iran)

She shouldn't have been placed in an Arab country during civil arrest. The fact that she had a large team of bodyguards and crew constantly around her kinda shows they were aware of the threat. Even male journalists were running for their lives. It's just not safe when theres so much unrest.

Re: What do you think of the current revolution in Egypt?

Egypt has been fed anti Jew anti israeli propaganda for years and there's plenty of extremists in Egypt. Plenty of anti jew neighbours too. So there is already deep seeded hatred. I would not be suprised if they got into power but I don't think its that likely given america's interests.America will do whatever it can to stop an extremist Islamic government getting in because they have so much money tied up in Israel. I'm sure some of the arab states will be trying to do the opposite.
