Hi everyone,
i have half-yearlies coming up and just wanted to ask about the best way to study for maths, 3u and 2u. in my 1st exams of the year, i got 60 in 3u and 75 in 2u which is terrible by my standards. I just wanted to know how to study well..

i've found some exams on the topics i've done here, so that will help, but i don't know how to reach the point of doing practice questions/exams, that is, i don't know how to revise the content. Should i just work through my textbook?

Also, how can i study for harder 2u topics in 3u? And do you guys know where i can find some questions on basic arithmetic and algebra (i think that's what i called; it's the stuff they ask in the 1st question of exams)

Thanks

P.S how many hours should i be studying maths per week?

Pre-step 1: Look at your exams and look where your error occurred, which area of Mathematics? (Silly mistake, not enough practice?)

Step 1: Grab Cambridge or Fitzpatrick and read the worked examples.

Step 2: Do the corresponding exercises.

Step 3: Have a look at some past papers and do the topics you have learnt.

Step 4: Set a time for yourself.

Study enough so you know what you're doing for each section, with that said 3-5 hors per day is good.

Thanks for the help guys

It's insane studying 9hrs a day. You'll eventually run out of gas and start to get lazy.

Personally it's an hour a day for me unless the load becomes too much and I need a beast session.

Jokes on you if you need 9 hrs a day.

they have excel books and success one to name a few...
i doubt i will end up doing 9 hours. Most i've ever done in one day is 5 hours. Today i'm going to try to study from 4-9.

i do study, but i can never do it properly for maths. This will help.
we're doing premutations and combinations in class atm; that topic is a chameleon....
one second it's the easiest topic you'll ever do and in the next second it's one of the hardest topics
i regret being accelerated a year, could've put this off until 2012 lol

Question about year 12:
does cambridge have 1 3u book for prelim and another for year 12? my math teacher has a fitzpratick in the library so i don't need anything for 2u

Yes, there is a Cambridge 3 unit Year 11 that covers 2 unit Preliminary + 3 unit Preliminary and 2U HSC. The Year 12 3 Unit book covers 3 Unit Year 12. Permutations and Combinations, Parametrics, Circle Geometry and parts of Trigonometry are missing from the Year 11 book.

5-9 hours is way too much! just do a solid 2-3 hours and you'll be set. If you do the past papers complete them in the time allowed normally in an exam
