120 hours is ridiculous IMO.
Because, where I live, there is no traffic and all that, where as in Sydney half of the hours could be stuck in peak hour traffic.

And seriously, I've done about 30 hours in a car and consider myself to be a reasonable, safe driver.

lol i know aye

I live in Sydney and have done 20 maybe and i am a pretty great driver, i can do everything besides reverse park.

And also it is impossible to get hours, my parents work and i work also and with school and study i have no time, plus everyone fakes hours

I did 120 hours legit. It's really not that bad. I don't think it needs to be that high, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

It sorta is, my family is very busy because we all do stuff and we don't have the time to do 120hrs, i have managed 20ish hours but thats pretty low considering it took 6months to do.

Also the socio-economic status of people prevents some classes from managing it legit, example, some family cannot afford petrol or a car

Although you may think you are a good driver at 20-30hours, I can assure you, you are not. Although the 120 hours may seem excessive, it is do-able and adds great experience to your driving. Experience is what makes you a good driver and allows you to be ready for different and unexpected situations. The 120 hours also allows you to be set in good driving habits, which at 30hours are not set well enough for you to continue them when you are driving on your own. Also, you are able to reduce the hours you require by getting professional lessons, which are highly valuable as your parents may have bad driving habits that you adapt. Also as you say everyone forges their hours, by raising the amount of hours you need, you are likely to forge the same amount, so you really are driving more.
It took me 12.5 months to get all my hours up and I did not make any up, and a two week wait to get into the RTA, I was a p-plate driver at 17 and 1 month. It is evident seeing my friends drive the ones who have done the full 120 hours and the ones that haven't. They are the ones who have had crashes (mainly minor, but still lost control of their vehicle). Even after doing the 120 hours, you still aren't an amazing driver, you haven't been driving, so don't get cocky, most p-platers do, and thats why we get a bad name.

That is why system now fails, i do not mind doing 50hrs but 120 is alot, even though i will do it legit, we get horrid names from a minority group who frauds their hours so easily

20-30 hours does NOT make you a good driver. Just because you think you are, I can assure you that you aren't.

you almost certainly are not a good driver after even 2 years on p plates

good driving isnt about changing gear properly and keeping to the speed limit

its about anticipating other drivers behaviour and making sure you have escape routes and making sure you do not get stuck in a dangerous position and making sure you know how your car will handle in the event of losing traction or locking up brakes

you're all shit drivers
