Q1 is a joke -- most of the time, but often you might get some harder integration in Q4/5...
yes the harder integration is usually reduction formula or the f(a-x) = f(x) stuff. if u get reduction formula in later questions you should be pretty happy, they are just proofs most of the time.

Need help with another question:

INTEGRATE [(cosx)/(4+5cosx)]

I tried using t-formula, and ended up with having to integrate (1-t^2)/[(9-t^2)(1+t^2)] --> and I really don't want to use partial fractions...


Anyone see a faster method to integrate this?

As always, help is immensely appreciated

i tried other methods but they all seem to come to partial fractions. u hav to use partial fractions. if u think this is bad wait until you do resisted motion...

there is a much faster way to do it, but not for you hsc newbs

I think Mr Goodwin is alluding to complex analysis methods... which wouldn't even work for the above questions since there are no limits in the integral.
