What are some good career options with maths on its own? (in case if I drop out of actuarial and choose another major)

ehh, both of these are probably going to be a last resort (although I'm considering tutoring 3U and 4U maths next year, depending on my marks)

Also, you'll be doing commerce/adv maths yeh? just do fins, and maths as majors, work in any bank, or insurance company.

I think I'll be doing Comm/Adv Maths at UNSW, just hoping to get in, otherwise it's just plain Commerce/Science (maths major) if I don't make it
and if I don't make that one either, then teaching, here I come? :O

Don't tutors make quite a lot of money? I mean, after all the advertising is done.
Most parents would pay good money for their child to be tutored by someone who scored a top mark in HSC Maths, and most are oblivious that higher ATAR =/= good teaching skills. You could exploit that and flaunt your 4U mark in their face. Every parent seems to want a maths tutor now. The period of time between HSC and Uni seems good to get a temp job as a tutor. It's a good secondary job, imo. I might get into it Defying talent, matrix and intuition is pretty fun. Them and their stupid posters at epping station...

Don't most Math's lecturers have postgrads...? It isn't easy to become an university lecturer, or so I've been told.
As for career options, try using google. I can't see too many opportunities for Pure maths outside of academia...although Applied is a different scenario.

They've already learnt it...therefore they aren't interested in what you've got to teach. More often, they'll ask you ridiculous questions just to troll you. That's how it works at my place.

Pure maths is maths for the sake of maths. It gets pretty ??? pretty quickly, I hear. But you get to choose your major in like 2nd or 3rd year and you'll have some inkling of all three areas of maths so you can switch majors.

People have started asking me about what I want to do with maths after uni...and I simply don't know - but I don't really mind either. It's such a broad and applicable area of study that the career will find itself, once you have a specific major in mind...I'm doing maths because I will love it!
