Easiest answer, just talk to someone, go up, say hello, try and strike convo, ask them random (yet somewhat relevant) questions, about anything, it'll work out soon, that's how you make friends at uni too, if not you'll be screwed

Duh, you have something ridiculously in common with people at your school; the fact you're at school and same year level. Which means you are also around the same age.

It's quite simple. "Hi, how are you?" *some subject chatter/in common school whinging* Talk about having L's/P's, ask them what they're doing on the weekend etc.

4. Make some more noise with your mouth so you're having a conversation with them

That is very mean but very true. Humans continually judge everyday, it comes by nature. Pow will need to accept it.
