it is not a disease. it is a sign of Liver related disease as a result of build up of bilirubin (breakdown product of your blood) in the body. the liver metabolises bilirubin and excretes. if you're liver doesnt work properly, the bilirubin builds up in your body which is why you get a yellowish tinge. the most common site is in the conjunctiva of the eyes and is given a special name called "icterus".
