Hey guys , can you guys provide me with an ATAR approximation based on the following information.

Adv English: RANK(~65/221) Trial raw mark 82/105 I'm sure I will perform better externally
Physics: (~22/74) 72/100 About 13-19 kids got B6 last year
Chemistry: (~20/96) 76/100 About 13-19 kids got B6 last year
Economics: (~22/46) 71/100 Teacher said 1/3 of kids get B6
Maths 2u: (~25/226) 101/120 Would this raw score translate into a B6?
Maths 3u: (~40/80) 42/84 (lol) I do 11 units...nuff said:chainsaw:

School Rank:Low 60's

Last year we had 90 students scoring 90+ ATAR with like low teens getting 99+

Apparently our cohort is stronger than last year in English and Eco.

PS: In addition to giving me the ATAR if anyone has info as to what raw scores = in terms of HSC mark please provide them :spin:

Could be more or it could be less. ATAR estimates really arent very accurate, they can only give you a general idea as to what you might get.

Are you guys sure :S, I was only posting here to see if what people said roughly concurs with my year advisers estimate of like 96-97. What is making you guys give me such a low estimate?

lol. i had similar ranks to you in english, chem and modern and i was coming top 2 in both maffs ext 1 and 2 at the half yearly stage, at a higher ranked skool. and my year advisor said i was just scraping a 95. so ur year advisor is definitely over-estimating you.

UNLESS he thinks ur year group is better than previous year groups.
wat trial paper did u do?

IMO our yeargroup is definitley stronger than last years. I'd say there are about 15-17 people who will score 98-99.95 in this years cohort.

In saying that our school's english staff are world renowned for fucking people over, I'm not going to mention my school's name for obvious reasons (you might be able to guess what school I'm from). Also our science faculties have ub3r strict marking criteria where you often have to include the most bizarre facts in order to secure the marks.

And I'd just like to point out that my reasons for the above statements are justified and not subjective due to my own bad experiences with them, I do have legit proof that they're somewhat "lacking" (for lack of a better word)

I'm currently aiming for ~97, given that I do the good ol' pwn dem externals, I know I can still get this. Would anyone know what marks I need externally I balance out my shitty internals?

sorry for being to annoying ;)

I will admit that I was a little conservative with my estimate. Try and remember that ATAR estimation isnt an exact science, and that any ATAR estimate you get (whether from the school or on BOS) isnt going to be accurate. It can only give you a general idea as to what you might get. I remember at my school, they estimated one guy at 97.6-he ended up getting 92. something. But for another guy they estimated 93.6 and he got 93.7.

If you're aiming for 97 you will need higher than what you're getting now.
Also, can everyone stop putting English out of 105. It's out of 100 with belonging as 40% and paper 2 as 60%. Thank you.
Back on topic: you will need band 6s in everything except MX1 to get 97+.
2U is good. You only needed 94/120 to get 90 last year.
Physics I think was around 76-78 for 90.
Chem was 72 for 90.
Eco I can't recall off the top of my head.
English advanced was 77ish/100. Be safest to go for 80/100 though.
P.S. Do really well in paper 2 but not in paper 1 so then standard won't be fucked over as much and also because paper 2 counts for more. Thanks. :p

You want to know why the estimate is so low? Okay.

You gave me:

English 65/221
Physics 22/74
Chemistry 20/96
Econ 22/46
Maths 25/226
Maths 3u 40/80
School rank: low 60s

Your ranks are pretty low. But... on closer inspection - yes, I was probably a bit too harsh. I'm going to say ~94.
