UPDATE: (05/02/2012)

My classes for 2012 are now full, so I will not be accepting anymore students, unless students leave the class.

I have had a number of enquiries for 2012/13 HSC Students who are currently undertaking the preliminary course, due to time constraints, I am unable to offer tutoring for the preliminary course this year, but if you are interested in joining the class in Term 4, 2012 when we commence the HSC course, please contact me via PM, email or my website.

Current class sizes are 4 or 5 students. If you have a bunch of friends from your school, I can run classes just for your school and we can concentrate on your schools assessment tasks (this is what I do with my Tuesday students)

Hey everyone,

I am a qualified teacher, having taught at a public school in North-West Sydney since 2007.
I specialise in teaching Physics to capable students who want to further improve their skills and overall achievement.
I primarily run small group sessions for capable students who are aiming for a band 6 in Physics. Classes will run for 2-2.5hours and be run at times to suit the candidates selected at a cost of $45/session.
Classes will be run out of my home in South-Western Sydney.
I may also run a class for students aiming for Band4/5 depending on demand.
Selection into correct small group class will be determined by initial entrance test.
I also offer one-to-one tuition for students who are struggling with Physics.

Credentials

  • Have tutored on and off since 2003
  • Qualified teacher and have been teaching Physics since 2007
  • Currently tutor Year 11 and 12 students from schools such as: James Ruse, Baulkham Hills, Girraween, Fort Street, Hurlstone, PLC, Kings and North Sydney Girls
  • Tutored a number of state-ranking students and have been very successful in tutoring potential band 6 students (96% success rate)

What?
Tutoring for Physics (Year 12)

  • Small group sessions for students aiming for Band 6 (2-2.5hrs @ $45/session)
  • Small group sessions for students aiming for Band4/5 (2-2.5hrs @ $45/session)
  • One-to-one sessions for struggling students looking to improve ($50/hr)

Lesson Structure:
For each lesson, a theory booklet is worked through in class, key concepts explained, past examination questions are broken down and answered in a way to ensure maximum understanding and maximum marks.
A homework booklet is given each week and is to be completed before the next lesson.
Generally the lessons structure will be as such:

  • 0.5 Hours working through homework problems
  • 0.5 Hours test on previous weeks or fortnights material
  • 1-1.5 hours working through new material

Where?
At my place in South-Western Sydney.

Why me?

  • I am extremely dedicated to my students. I offer support via mobile phone and email.

  • All of my students show significant improvement.
  • My current Baulkham Hills High student has improved from being "average" in his grade to achieiving 92% in his last examination, placing him in the top 10 in the grade.

  • Group tutoring is extremely beneficial if the students are of the same level of ability. You will not be stuck in a class with students far beyond or below your ability level.

  • I am extremely good looking (apparently this helps) :)

  • I reward hard working students

I am assessing 3 potential students tomorrow. I want no more than 8 students per group.

Contact me if you are a keen student willing to put in the hard yards.

That was definitely not a top 10 mark in that exam... =/

LoL, serious? When I asked him about the ranking, he said he was unsure, but he thought top 10.

Yeah, everyone thought they went really well at first, but when all the marks started filtering through it turned out the majority of people had gotten 85+ D:

92% would definitely not have been in the top 10... I do physics at baulkham hills and i am a firm believer in honesty. You should discipline your student. Lies must never be told

Who's your baulko student =]?
My Baulko student asked me last week if I went by this name on BOS, apparently a few ppl asked him if he knew me. He didn't know this was me until last Thursday. You guys at Baulko need to stop talking about me :p

BTW,

My Saturday class is starting half an hour earlier (now 12:00-2:30)

My first 2 students for Saturday class:
- 1st @ well ranked all girls high school
- 11th @ top 15 comprehensive school ( aiming for top 5 by the end of next year :) )

Both very capable students.

If you would like to join them on their quest to band six-ness, please shoot me a PM.

Doing 3 more trials this week.

Still spots in my Saturday lesson.

One of my current students has sewed up 2nd place in Physics at Girraween, a testament to his intellect and his hard work!

I will be starting to advertise locally, so I am expecting spots to fill up before the holidays.

If you are interested, please contact me.

I wish I could join your group. But Spiral has not got the energy to go that far.
