i am concerned because while there are people who own internally and externally and get sky high atars; what about people who
1. top quite a few of their subjects internally, i guess top 10-15 in ones in the ones they dont top, but perform averagely/ slightly above average in the actual exam?
or
2. perform averagely to above average internally but do extremely well in external?

will these people be able to break into 98s and 99s or be stuck at 95s and such

Does the school send the BOS your internal mark and your rank? Or just your rank ?

I got about 90 for Physics and 85 for Chemistry as my internal mark.

Is it possible to get a band 6 ?

Yes. Regardless of your internal rank, as long as you maintain a good rank you can get a band 6

So, if you're english rank was horrible (middle of the year) but acing the HSC could boost you up to a high band 5 ?

Everyone keeps there own external mark but there internal mark is moderated (what ever you want to call it) according to the external marks which are moderated accordingly to ranks

powlmao pretty much explained everything spot on. Your internal rank is everything for your assessment marks and the actual HSC is everything for your exam mark. They then get the average of the assessment and exam mark to give you the HSC mark.

Then to get your atar, they take your best 10 units of study after scaling to calculate your ATAR.

btw like your dp powlmao XD
