Sad and bad news...

my teachers told me today:

-I was 1 mark total off the girl for internals from coming 1st for standard english (rank 2nd)

-Also i was 2 marks total of the dude for internals from coming 1st for economics (rank 2nd)

-About 2-3 marks total from coming 1st for ancient history =.=... (rank 3rd internal)

Will these gaps significantly effect my externals?? im just curious.. sorry i sound stupid =.=

And no, it has no effect on your externals, but if you go to a crap ranked school you have a bigger risk of your cohort slightly dragging down your internal marks in the bos moderation process.

im not sure if my school is bad , but we've been fluctuating from 100's-204 recent years T.T~~~.. But all i know is for Ancient we got a really strong cohort (Top 11 has total marks of 85+ for internal) so very close gaps, eco half the class is on 70+ whilst the other half is failing (few 90's), umm for english we have 3-5 good people (Potentially two band 6's and couple band 5's). (Only 15 people passed for trials out of 70).

Well if there's a good balance of good and poor performers, then moderation should be okay for you, in that you're not screwed over by coming 2nd cos everyone else below you is extremely bad, which would have made your school average really poor.

Don't worry too much about your ranks, top 3 or so is still really good, so it all comes down to how well you go in the hsc exam. (but if you're really worried, then go help the dumb kids in your grade)

I went to a school ranked 500s and I was ranked 2nd in English for all of them but only by a little bit. Case in point, my Extension 1 English - I got 45/50 for my Exam mark, but because I assume my cohort was less talented than other stronger ones, my moderated mark was 43 - so I got 44 in the end.

A similar thing happened for my English Advanced, where I got 89 in the HSC myself, but 84 moderated.

Another similar thing happened for Maths Extension 1, I got 85/100 exam mark - but because the 3rd placed person in my class was not exactly great at maths - I got a relatively low moderated mark (78) even though I was ranked 2nd only by a little bit.

o_O wtf that would suck T.T, if the below people stuff up as your mark got moderated to 78. It might happen to me for maths because im rank 15 and some of the people above and below might worry me :(.

Btw what was your ATAR btw?? let me guess 95+? XD
