Most people should have had their first few assessments already so..who thinks they didn't do as well as they expected?I know I screwed up my physics examination even though it was dead easy. Even thought the exam was only worth 15% of my total assessment I think I want to drop physics already (yes it was THAT bad).

15% in the larger scheme of things is NOTHING!, and will do little to affect your overall ATAR, so I would discourage you from dropping it so early on - still early days.

If you can pin the poor result down to insufficient study practices, then there is no reason to drop it. Remember that 50% of your HSC marks and ATAR are ultimately derived from the final exam. So you may have screwed up 7.5% out of the 100%, but look at the big picture, it is just a drop in the ocean.

And it's 25%, instead of 15 like every other assesment.

You still have the remainder to go, so use your lessons from now and try to do the best you can for everything else.

Still possible to do well since it's more about the rank that matters - not the mark as much. Just because you got say 50% in your first assessment worth 50%, it's still possible to do well in the others and "overtake" the others.

I feel like I'm the same boat, OP.

Screwed up physics prac (first assessment), ranked about 13/17 =/ Not happy at all.

Also fucked maths up with some VERY stupid mistakes - all my mistakes consisted of not rounding the number properly.

The maths was worth like 5% but the physics was worth much more. About 20% I think. I am majorly beating myself up over this.

Screwed up Legal Studies, although by screwed up I mean I didn't do as well as I planned, still came above average. I knew all my facts and figures, I just can't write essays as well as I need to be able to. Oh well, I've got the entire summer holidays to work on it.

Woowoowoo...woo. Don't panic mate. First of all; it's 15% - absolutely nothing. Secondly, it doesn't affect your ATAR or your final HSC mark only your rank does. My first two English assignments i recieved 47% and 60%. From there my next two were 87% and 80%. (That's good for me, in English).

Honestly, you shouldn't be panicing at this stage. Make mistakes now, reflect over holidays, and rectify them. It's all you can do.
