I know the conversation has moved on slightly from this but my family only came to Australia twenty years ago, like many of the citizens today our ancestors did not take land from the Aborigines. My whole life however I will be paying taxes for something that not only occurred over two hundred years ago but for an incident we had nothing to do with. Is this really fair? I mean from what I know, which i admit is limited due to my lack of interest, but the Aboriginal people get a lot more than some of us white people. We aren't rolling in money either. Enough is enough.
I hope I did not offend anyone or rub anyone the wrong way or whatever. But that is my opinion.

well
really
why should anyone be responsible for the actions of their ancestors lol so even if i was directly related to someone involved in the policy making that resulted in the 'taking' of aboriginal lands (they didnt have any concept of land ownership so shit is retarded to begin with) i am at as much fault as you

the only thing we have done is lived in this 'land'

also i think a lot of people count the events of the stolen generation which affects people still to this day as one of the main greivances

and it would be interesting to see how much more was spent on aboriginals than whites in the same socioeconomic classes and area of residence i think it would be minimal

I was just making a point about my situation. But I do agree. I don't think anyone should be held responsible for what has happened. It was obviously a bad bad situation for the Aborigines to have been in but come on unless someone in our society is over two hundred years old and was directly involved in everything that happened, no one should be held accountable. White people have to make their own way in the world, it is time they learned to too.
