yes..

85 in 4u -> 45.4/50 scaled mark
95 in 2u -> 45.1/50 scaled mark.. according to talent100 calculator.

But the ease of getting those marks are comparative aswell..
85 in 4u is probably around 60-65/120 raw.. which is about 55%
whereas a 95 in 2u is probably a 110/120 raw.. which is about 90%

according to Einstein's Atar calculator

HSC mark : 85 in Ext 2 Maths - Atar equivalent of 99.35

95 in 2 unit Maths - Atar equivalent of 99.2

So not too big of a difference

^ Though if you are good at maths and it is a strong point for you, it would be smarter to take 4U instead of that mindset that 2U maths is easier since in the end, if you actually care about your atar, 4U maths will boost your atar.

In the end none of this matters as long as you're doing subs you like/are good at.

But a 95 in 2 unit is much easier get
not necessarily..
depends on the paper, but generally a 60/120 in 4unit isn't too hard to achieve..
I can't really talk lol, coz i f'ed my 4u paper, but yeah, for someone who puts in the effort 85 is easily achievable.. hence why about 75% of 4u students receive above 80.

Do you mean 99.95? My 93 in 4U coming up as equivalent to 99.95 means that the scaled mark out of 100 for my 4U mark is equivalent to 1/5 of the scaled aggregate required for 99.95.

does that mean that a 93 in 4u is the same as a 98/99/100 in 4u in terms of its contribution to your ATAR?

No. If I had gotten a, say, 98 in 4U, according to Talent 100, my scaled mark for 4U would be 49.6/50 (which would be 99.2/100, since it's 2 units). However, since an aggregate of 480+/500 (or something like that) gives you 99.95, both 93 and 98 for 4U will equate to 99.95.

Oversimplified version: after 93/100, 4U goes off the scale.

What is the purpose of this question?

Say 95 in 2U = 85 in 4U: given the option you should choose the 4U. You have a far better background for many of the uni course that require a maths. I have a UNSW student who only did HSC Maths 2U Advanced who was struggling with his UNSW MATH 1B. If only he had done Maths Ext 1 life would have been so much easier.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking: I'm going to do General Maths because I'm going to ace it. What value is there in aceing Gen Maths?
