I don't recall that. I was only suggesting that if there was a God of Maths maybe there ought to be a counterpart - wasn't suggesting that was me at all. Not vying for that tag.

I'm pretty sure you don't get asked to prove that root 3 is irrational in 3U - only 4U I think.

.... OP clearly stated that it came from the Cambridge Year 11 3 unit textbook so how could it be 4u?

Because many questions from the 3U textbook (especially Extension) are 4U level.

In fact, a very similar question from the Cambridge Year 11 3U Extension section appeared in a Sydney Boys Question 8 4U paper.

SBHS sometimes copies from textbook tomato sauces. I have seen a number of extension questions from Cambridge in their 4U examinations.

If it's from the Extension part of the 3U textbook then it probably is 4U-level or thereabout - the Extension are designed to be a challenge.
