Why is this a law? In what kind of "secular" country do we live in if we prevent the sale of alcoholic beverages on some puritanical religious reason? Why are businesses losing a whole lot of money on a public holiday because some church psychos hate fun?

Have the terrorists already won?

shouldnt u have a stash at home from a buying spree the previous day?

But yeah I dont really get the law either considering that a large proportion of the population is atheist and couldnt care less about the religious significance of the holiday.

If christians dont want to drink today, that is fine and understandable. If others do, why should they be stopped from buying a drink?

religious based holiday

ergo religious based tradition?

idk
wait
that wouldn't account for pubs and clubs being allowed to sell alcohol
idk

tighter laws on alcohol in the past i guess
and due to secularisation the laws have been relaxed in recent times

This.

The rest of us shouldn't be made to conform to other people's beliefs and values.

to be quite honest, the law doesn't go far enough

the sale of leavened baked goods during the passover period is simply outrageous

I am in two minds over this issue. Either alcohol should be available every day of the year for sale from bottleshops, or it should be restricted altogether.

Also if alcohol is available to be sold in bottleshops, then (authorized growers only) marijuana should also be allowed to be sold at bottleshops & tobacco outlets.
