UNSW has the highest commerce cut off in Australia, and whichever uni holds that will always have the prestige and keep the cutoff high, it would be in UNSW's best interest to keep it 96+ because it reflects prestige down to arts prospects, languages, etc. regardless of how good or not they may be.
Regarding the number of students anyone have any statistics on the number of internationals that end up getting employed in Australia and staying vs leaving back to their home country, would be very interesting?

Well, UNSW allows up to 10 bonus points, whereas other unis have 10 max, and sometimes only give bonuses for disadvantages and not subject bonuses, so the cutoff is actually inflated because of all of these things.

But it'll probs stay the same. Just get ~93 and a band E4 in extension one maths and E3-4 in extension two, or economics, or something.

The same applies with Economics in my opinion - the thinking skills you gain from considering the economy and its features in a domestic and international context would undoubtedly be valuable to university Economics, and you obviously have to be a hard-working/'good' student to achieve 85+.

I disagree. I think it's easier to get a band 6 in Eco than physics, and I'm pretty sure they reteach a lot of the course in the first few weeks of any first year Eco unit, whereas in physics they just assume you know all the foundation stuff.

what are you on about? When i meant "economics", i was referring to not getting bonus points for the HSC course and not implying that UNSW doesn't give bonus points for the economics degree.

Yeah, I took Economics at uni - and it's different to high school Economics.

By maths I meant a HSC Mathematics course (Gen./2U/3U/4U).
