CHEM1031 vs MATS1101 (1 Viewer)

Hi, for chemical engineering, which one is better?

I got 86 for hsc chem.

it doesnt really matter which one you choose. i picked chem1031 which went into deep chemistry details that are somewhat irrelevant to further chem eng subjects. chem eng mainly focuses on the physics side of thermodynamics and what not with a basic knowledge in chem

I would pick CHEM1011 if I were you, it scales well and is a subject that is recommended for chemeng.

Apparently CHEM1011 is a repeat of yr12 so I don't think they're any point in doing that though.

In any case, most first year units are repeats of Year 11/12 content. I'd recommend doing it

After CHEM1011 I'll have to do CHEM1021.

If I stay with MATS1101, I'll have to do CEIC1001 after.

Wouldn't mats/engineering chem be more relevant and useful and make it easier for 2nd and 3rd year?

Especially considering everything after that is CEIC too.

CHEM1011 is actually more indepth, etc. than MATS. Your choice but.

not really there are some overlaps but there is heaps of new shit like quantum chemistry

Yep. I did HSC Chem but found CHEM1011 quite difficult.

Which one has more organic chem?

In the hsc, I really enjoyed production of materials and chemical monitoring and management. I didn't really like acids too much, and shipwrecks was okay.
