Can i ask about your journey to medicine?Yeah, jbobs is correct.
You are definitely eligible to apply as a nonstandard to a number of medical schools in Australia. The majority will consider your GPA and will disregard your ATAR, e.g. UWS, JMP, JCU etc. Other's may used a combined GPA/ATAR/NRSL rank e.g. UNSW.
However, it is also important to note - once you have started your tertiary degree, you will not be able to apply for some medical schools in Australia as they only accept standard applicants. E.g. Monash, UQ, Griffith, UAdel.
You will have to sit the UMAT this year to qualify for entry as a nonstandard.
if my course is three years,Yeah, jbobs is correct.

I understand that when i 'transfer' im starting from the beginningYou can't ~transfer~ but you can get in and start from the beginning with none of your previous studies counting.
you won't be transferring.if my course is three years,
and I decide to transfer and study med after my second year of uni, am i allowed to do so? not transfer transfer, but transferring INTO a NEW course to study.
Or is it first year only/sem etc
sorry for so many questions
you can do it in first year, second, third, fourth, fifth, after you finish your degree, etc. as long as its within like 10 years of completing your degree (or as long as you're still in a degree).I understand that when i 'transfer' im starting from the beginning
but im curious, can i do this like in my second year of uni IN MY FIRST COURSE. because what if i fail UMAT first year etc.
can i transfer into med in my second year (Saying my course is 3yrs)
haha, i meant completely start a new course, throwing away my first course... if you get me :Syou won't be transferring.
By the time you finish med your prior uni will not let you go back and finish your previous degree and since no units are counting it isn't a ~transfer~ it is you entering another separate course and yes you're obvi allowed to do that, there are at least two people in this thread doing that this year.
you will have to ask them directly then because the new info on their site does not mention a first year GPA anymore just an ATAR and completed degree GPAs.I'm starting first yaer uni soon.
im doing nursing at UWS ))) But i want to try and get into medicine. i would say my atar wasnt that nice, but im aiming for HDs.
Ohh, thank you SO MUCH. this was the answer i was looking for LOL. Thanks!!you can do it in first year, second, third, fourth, fifth, after you finish your degree, etc. as long as its within like 10 years of completing your degree (or as long as you're still in a degree).
It's like any other course swap except harder.
yes, that is what it is. It isn't transferring and yes, you can do it WHENEVER. For med it just has to be at the start of a new year or whatevs. Other degrees you are sometimes able to start second sem. Not med. not nursing either iirc.haha, i meant completely start a new course, throwing away my first course... if you get me :S
my overall question is if can i transfer whenever, or is there a deadline that i might have to try for postgrad med?
year 12 --> Did shit in UMAT. Got an ATAR 4 points below predicted. Still just good enough for med at UWS.Ohh, thank you SO MUCH. this was the answer i was looking for LOL. Thanks!!
Can you tell me your journey to med if you don't mind !!
2011 - UMAT of 50th percentile, ATAR of 98.75 -> no Medicine due to poor UMAT score and did not apply to non-UMAT schools, namely JCU.Can i ask about your journey to medicine?
Where does it say this?you will have to ask them directly then because the new info on their site does not mention a first year GPA anymore just an ATAR and completed degree GPAs.
But yeah, basically, if your goal is Med -haha, i meant completely start a new course, throwing away my first course... if you get me :S
