Hey guys,

I am also interested in Medicine, just a couple of questions.

Do you know if University of Queensland is undergraduate, can I apply for it or do I have to do a degree and then apply.

What are alternative way into medicine, like I mean for all uni's not just UWS.

Do you think Advanced science would be good to start, then apply for medicine or what about medical science. I want as much as information

Queensland is undergrad
You need a 98.90 or above ATAR
But if you do Maths Extension 2 you get two bonus points for that.

And then you need above 50 in all sections in the UMAT.

And then your section one score is the determining factor afaik.

Then you're in for an undergrad degree with provisional Doctor of Medicine.

Which you then need a GPA of 5 in to get into the MD.

And that's it.

Done.

This would be very hard to get into,

What should I do if I get 92 Atar, would I still have any hope for med,

Not really… there's not even an interview…

Probs not
Apply for places like Monash that have a low ATAR requirement
But you'll need a really high UMAT and a really good interview.

Tbqh you stand little chance
Medicine entry is a lot more competitive than other courses
Having 92 is going to put you at a major disadvantage and immediately out of contention for JCU, Griffith, UQ, UNCLE/UNE, UNSW, UWS, UTas, UWA, and USyd (provisional).

(I just checked and I think the cutoff for Monash is 95 not 90, but like, you'd need higher to be competitive anyways. And Adelaide has a 90 cutoff but your ATAR would need to be MUCH higher to get in.)

you know why I was telling you I need 92, cause I did bad in some trial exams, would this impact my atar too much,

But UWS also has low at atar 93.55, do I have a chance there!

Thats only if you live in GWS…
And it's a cutoff
If you get less than that your ATAR won't mean anything
And you need a good UMAT.

I live in GWS, I think I did well in Umat,

what would be the most effective way yo study man,

I do the following subjects chemistry, biology, maths 2u/EXt1, English Advanced, how should I study in these two months to maximize my Atar. I really want 95+ Atar man, please help asap as I would need to start studying effectively.

Like how should I study for each subjects, should I just review my notes and do past papers. What would be the most effective way to study! do you have good notes to send me, that I perfect, to just ace HSC.

thanks man, I am looking for you response

Can you clear me up on GWS brah?

I googled uws gws postcodes, and 2077 ie asquith/Hornsby was included.
However, in the medicine entries section, this postcode was not included, and it's said something along the lines of"you must have lived in this area 5 years".

Well, why were you asking about UQ then? lol

I'm gonna be real with you.
I did UMAT in year 12 and knew I did shit, and got an ATAR estimate >98
So I proceeded to do nothing for the next few months
And then watched awful television through the exam period and came on here and bitched instead of studying
I'm probs not the person to ask about ~maximising ATARs~

It also says something else if you took the time to read:
Please Note: The School of Medicine definition does differ from other definitions of "Greater Western Sydney" used by the university - however there was intense government involvement in the creation of the medical school and therefore the School has chosen to adopt the NSW Government's definition. There is comprehensive information about these LGAs at the Division of Local Government website.
and the 5 years thing means exactly what it says
jesus

I do this stuff on my phone, it's easy to miss things.

And I didn't see the 5 years thing on the first page, was wondering if it only applied to med.

Afaik it only applies the med
But I honestly don't know. I've lived in GWS, around Macarthur, my entire life.
