Hey guys :)

So just a quick question about University offers. Today we had a talk about University preferences etc which left our whole year slightly confused :p

After we've put in preferences etc, how many offers can one student potentially receive? Is it just ONE offer? Or is it one offer per institution? For example- could I receive an offer from USYD International and Global Studies, UNSW International Studies, UTS Law/International Studies and more, and then choose which course I would most like to do? Or would I receive only one offer, according to my preferences- so just UTS Law/International Studies?

Thank you so much!

You only receive one offer per round.

This.

E.g. I had 4 for 2012.
Early round - Bachelor of Science (Advanced Science) at UWS, Campbelltown
Main round - Bachelor of Medical Science/Bachelor of Engineering at USyd
Late round - Bachelor of Medical Science (Advanced) at UWS, CTown
Final round - Bachelor of Science (Advanced) at USyd

This happened because I changed preferences each round.
I simply removed the preference I got an offer for and then got an offer for the course next in line the next round.

This year, I only got two offers.
I put MBBS at UWS first preference so my offers were:
Main round - Bachelor of Medical Science at UNSW
Late round - MBBS at UWS, Campbelltown

Because I didn't change my preferences I didn't receive anymore offers.

I hope this clears things up.

I have two preferences for one university. If im eligible for both preferences, will they offer me my first preference first?

What are these 'offers'? When do I get mine or what do I have to do to get them? I'm totally oblivious to this

It doesn't work that way, from my understanding essentially places are allocated starting from 99.95 down. When they get to your ATAR you will be offered your first preference if there are any places left, if not they try your second preference etc. Once you are offered a position anything below that preference is ignored for that round.

So in a way, yes.
