Hey guys, buying a new car, is mercedes CLA or GOLF R better

I really like that Mercedes one. It seems pretty cheap for a Mercedes. Any idea how much it costs here in Aus?

That's because it's a front wheel drive (or fwd bias in the CLA45) 4 cylinder.

The Golf R will be hard to get an exemption

and the CLA will be legal in 2014, and is easy to get an exemption, and NOWAY, the CLA 250, noway AMG LOL, the edition 1

Yeah i know, i just want a nice car, CLA seems pretty nice and classy, but golf is more faster and such

On another note, go with the R. CLA looks appalling front and back.

They won't be legal unless they are under 130kw per tonne, which i highly doubt they are (cbb checking).

I think the cla250 is well under, heavy car with an econobox motor.

CLA 45 AMG is mental to say the least. If you're on P's, don't bother with either the R or CLA. I saw the CLA at Mercedes a few days ago. Let me tell you, it looks just as munted in real life as in the pics. Not saying its UGLY but definitely looks a bit out of proportion. Non the less, it's still a Merc and will give you that expensive look.

Personally I would get the new A45 AMG if you're looking at the CLA45 (but you must be crazy to think that if you're on Ps). Otherwise Golf R will give you more options if you want to mod it.

Obviously the Merc will feel more luxurious any day, but Golf R is more a drivers car. Merc has too much technology bringing up its weight and all.

Old thread but... in hindsight, I'd still go CLA45 over Golf R. Very different price range though.
