I disagree, most people can as long as they live at home and have zero other commitments one can "afford" the AMG. Hell I can probably afford the repayments on a GT3 as long as I didn't go out, ate ramen everyday and had nothing else happening...but that would be stupid.
I don't count that as affording it though. If you have to make sacrifices to buy something and maintenance/unpredictable costs might be a problem, you cant afford it.

agree, i'll only ever think about getting a proper car until i have a fully payed house plus investment properties.
Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if in the current market you could rent a house and buy a super car a few years old drive/maintain it and then sell when the property bubble bursts and end up about the same.

Lol no, the first 427 CI BBC made 390hp in the late 60s according to wikipedia. Also back then the American manufacturers uses to underrate their engines, sometimes significantly, for insurance purposes.

That's around what/more than the exotic manufacturers were getting out of their engines (albeit, closer to 4l). Like them or not, the high displacement American v8s have always been able to keep up on max HP and that's without considering their strong point - torque.

I dont get the appeal of the AMG engines though (besides sound), same displacement as an LS3/LT1 and I bet with some basic mods they'd make about the same power. (stock AMG vs modded LSx is fair imo given the fact that the AMG would be using good parts from the factory)
ls motors are awesome but can't compare with the AMG stock. This is fair enough because you can buy an ls3 crate motor for 8k new, an amg would be a multiple of this... Ls motors come into their own when you tune them, there is a huge aftermarket following and you can easily crack 600rwkw if you have 30k to spend.

worth the wait honestly imo, there are still plenty of cars that i would love to have that are under 20k. And and eg car i would buy when i have payed of a house would be something in the 100k range

No that, was more in regards to the investment side. If you want to buy investment properties, the quickest way to build your portfolio is by using the equity of your existing properties. Having an unencumbered house is just slowing down your ability to build a portfolio if you aren't using that equity. I'm going off track but pm me if you want more info.

I agree with what you said though, give me an r32 gtr and i'll be a happy man, anything more is just a luxury. Appreciating assets before depreciating, i just laugh at all my mates spending every cent they own on their cars while i'll have a deposit banked when i graduate.

As awesome as that car looks, i can't get over the triple headlight design of the 159, that was just stunning. The engine sounds incredible and I love the rear and side profile but the 159's front end is just...better to me.

Tbh idk what you guys are going on about. I'd be happy with either a good daily driver (a liberty 2.5GT or WRX, depending on conditions) or a weekend car (really doubt I'll get to this stage unless I'm retired though) depending on how I need it. Would also want to try a few track days out once in a while so a bit of grunt would be good.
