Anything known about Chatswood High School? I currently attend a private school and considered moving, so I applied for the selective stream in Chatswood High and was successful. However, I recently met somebody who transferred from CHS and she said some pretty bad things about the kids there. I'm worried that I'll make the situation even worse if I move to Chatswood High where there are people who do drugs and the teachers are even worse than the school I'm at currently. I'd like to know about the environment there and the teachers for the selective classes.
Another option for me is Cherrybrook Tech, it's slightly out of the way but if I have to, I'm willing to move there too.

I think that selective is only up to year 10 so is it really even worth it or should I just try out for a better school for year 11? Should I move to Chatswood High School or Cherrybrook Tech? Or just stay at my current school?

I'd really appreciate it if anybody knew about Chatswood High, or if somebody attends that school right now and could offer information to me.
I need to submit the acceptance letter by the end of this month, so anything would really help at this point.

Really with any public school there's going to be 'those' kinds of people. I mean I've heard similar stories for top selective schools, although not anywhere near as bad. The best thing you can do is form a good group of friends who have similar interests to you. Stay away from bad influences.

As for the two schools I would recommend Cherrybrook over Chatswood. Cherrybrook is a much better school.

Hey, thanks for your advice. Why do you say so? Even though Chatswood is selective and Cherrybrook is public?

I think cherrybrook has a high ranking, a few of my friends from my schools have moved there. Plus Eddie Woo teaches there (idk if he still is) :)

cherrybrook : why? eddie woo, probably one of the best maths teachers. watch some of his youtube videos. these videos have helped me heaps in year 11 and 12. but I don't know if he still works there, or if you'll even get him for maths.
its ur choice, i recommend more research since idk anything about chatswood so i cant really compare.

If you want to go to Chatswood just because it's selective, you should probably stay at ur current school/ go to Cherrybook. Theres really no point considering it's only selective from y7-10

Both schools literally have the same ranking, they're always a few ranks apart, sometimes Cherrybrook is higher and sometimes Chatswood is higher. I recommended Cherrybrook because I know a lot of students who came out of that school, but both schools are at the same 'level', so pick which ever one is most convenient for you in terms of transport and what not

Eddie Woo doesn't teach anymore lmao, he's a part of the school but doesn't actually teach, that's what my friends told me at least.

Chatswood is pretty smart because of the top selective students(I think there's generally about 3-5 99 ATAR's) they mostly carry the school ranking(with some help from other selective/Gifted and talented students.)
Its still a half decent school to go to(There is drugs and stuff but you should be able to stay away from it)

since there's drugs in mainstream I reckon there's no need to move to mainstream

Is North Sydney Girls an option for you? It's near Chatswood and is an excellent school.

Hello, I am a current student at Chatswood high in year 10 I am currently in selective there the things said about the kids are quite exaggerated not much more drug and dogey stuff than the average public school. If you do reasonably good subjects (not complete dropkick stuff) you will probably not encounter too many of these disruptive kids. yes, there are some bad students but they do not interfere too much. The seniors are often given far better teachers than the junior school (where I have had to suffer through some bad teachers) but there are many AMAZING and passionate teachers that do wonders (especially the history faculty is amazing, with many good teachers in math, English, science, e.t.c but I do not know many of the other subject faculties so I cannot say about those. but drawing back to your main concern the kids there are bad kids in every school but the majority of the kids are pretty cool (there used to be bad kids in the past like 10 years ago or so) but it's mostly been ironed out with only a few problematic kids but they are mostly held in check by the good people.

thankssss so much for the advice. Yeah that's what I thought the comments are pretty exaggerated since Chatswood High has such a high ranking and I do pretty well in school stuff do you reckon I should transfer from a ranked 160s school to Chatswood
