EMERGENCY WARNING - Hyland Rd, Greystanes (Cumberland LGA) A bush fire in Greystanes is spreading quickly in northerly direction. If you are in east of Prospect Reservoir, south of M4, & north of train line in Pemulwuy you are at risk. It is too late to leave.

Not sure if it’s the case this time but often a lot are man made.

At least 9 people have died in the fires since Christmas Day, more then 1500 homes have been lost.

RFS is urging people to evacuate the New South Wales south coast before dangerous conditions on the weekend.

36 year old Male has been charged with Arson over a fire in East Gippsland.

The NSW RFS has just issued its fourth Tourist Leave Zone declaration.

People in these areas need to leave before Saturday.

The four zones are:
Snowy Monaro
Shoalhaven
Batlow/Wodalga
South Coast

20 new fires have broken out between Nowra and Batemans Bay. Fire crews are being pulled out of the Snowy Mountains, east of Jindabyne.

And we have another 8 weeks of summer to go thru. Even after that, maybe we're still not out of the woods (if there're any woods left!).

There could also be power disruptions because of damage to substations in the Snowy region. Authorities have requested people take pressure off the system when they can by reducing demand, otherwise there could be load shedding – a challenging request given record temperatures in Canberra and sweltering conditions in Sydney.
