Couldn't have said it better myself
There's another (more important) reason: Now with Delta, every single Year 12 class we teach is both
school-specific and
text-specific. This multiplies the number of classes we need to put on by very, very large factor with no change in student numbers to cover even some of our costs. The only way this level of specificity would be possible, with only state-ranking teachers and tutors, is to limit the schools we take. We have to continue teaching our most loyal schools, which just coincidentally happen to be selective by and large.
Our approach renders each of our Y12 classes to essentially become assessment-strategy planning sessions with one of our senior academics. If your upcoming assessment is a speech, we will practice that speech with you during our classes (which will also include a healthy sprinkle of textual analysis) leading up to your assessment, with only other students from your school - doing the same text - present. This is all of course, in addition to the huge amount of course material we provide and your own private tutor who marks all your essays and takes all of your 1-1 tutorials.
You'll be supervised by someone with a NSW state rank in English, our instructions are far, far clearer (and include anecdote of personal experience) than the majority of disillusioned, overworked, underpaid school teachers, who still bicker amongst themselves in their craggy, clashing takes on the new syllabus. It's smarter to seek guidance from someone who's actually produced the results in real-life.
A service of the above description can only be made available in small amounts. I won't ever be able to get rich scaling Delta because actually good English teachers (to the standard we work at) are simply too few. Where our students are driven and willing to put in the effort, we can lead them to astounding new heights. We control our intake so as to ensure that everyone who does place their trust in us, is provided with the lowest-risk environment possible to achieve their goals. To do anything otherwise (charging what we do!) would be unethical.
